the canes logo represents the abyss in which bad hockey team logos go to die.

Still wonder if HuGo is gonna try to do something big this off-season.

If they don't, I am cool with them holding firm for now, but it would be nice for Montreal to become a destination again.

And land a big fish.

what I like so far about this management team is that they've shown they're willing to take risks to improve the team, but they also avoid making any dumb decisions that would negatively impact their long term plan.

so if Hughes doesn't pull the trigger on a deal for a high quality player, it's most likely because he felt it wasn't the right move to be made at that moment.

Yeah, just thinking out loud how, at this point, I'd rather a high end free agent than the cost of trading for one. I think we got a decent core going, and would hate to rip apart big chunks just to trade for a player, leaving potential holes in the lineup.

But yes, they have taken risks, but not risks that will hamper the long term viability of the team.

yeah, I agree that it would be nice for once if UFAs started seeing MTL as an interesting destination, which I think has been slowly but surely happening with the rebuild and what they're trying to accomplish.

Yeah, not overpaying for a mid-tier free agent (at best) on a contract that is pretty much DOA for a change would be nice.

Still kinda need a second line center, Dach is playing better but he's probably not a center down the line. Not sure he's with the team long term either

yeah, that remains to be seen, decisions will need to be taken. at least Dach has been showing a much better effort after a slow start to the year.

I think guys like him and Pettersson would quickly become scapegoats in MTL, fans would be whining about them all the (frank)ing time.

I like Matheson and want him to stay but at this point I hope he gets traded just because the consistent whining and bashing is just so annoying lol.

100 % agree

I would give Rantanen what ever the (frank) he wants

BUT I'm not so hot about Peterson and or Marner in MTL, ya know come playoff time

Then for Matheson, aside Pete, would complains about him ?

a poop ton of fans apparently, even Suzuki stepped in to defend him because of all the criticism aimed towards Matheson on social media.

Can you believe both LaPresse and RDS.ca published an article today called "À la défense de Mike Matheson".

It's almost the same picture for the articles too.

Yeah he's more dynamic but he's still notably bad at faceoffs and not great in his zone. That's why he's probably a winger.

With Demidov coming it's between him and Laine for a spot on the second line down the road.

What's great is that he's signed for one more season after this one.

Which will likely be the perfect moment to decide what his future on this team will be.

And there's nothing in the system at this point. Hage is the only that might but it's a super longshot.

So again trade of FA market
