I would say the top 5-6 players....then there is a drop.

Drop it like it's hot....like the Habs in the standings lately.

- Symba007

really? I was under the impression that there was hardly any consensus regarding the top 5... I know that doesn't necessarily mean they're bad players but it's an indication that there aren't a whole lot of "sure" picks that would become franchise players.

From what I've read, there are 5-6 great picks (not franchise players) and after that the talent falls off.

you can do a lot with eggs.

they'd be in 2 out of 3 meals a day sometimes back then.

i even tried making eggs and asparagus but could never get it to taste like it did when i was a kid.

looks like money is not the main issue with Evans new deal, it is term. Habs would prefer a shorter term while Evans is looking for long term (he is a pending UFA). With Beck, Kapanen and Hage, all RH centers coming up, Habs don't want to handcuff themselves.

I'm sure he would love a long term deal. This is pretty much his only good NHL season. Get that guaranteed money. He didn't go to Harvard for nothing.

that's a poor take if you're only looking at his point totals, he's been very useful to the team.

Yeah, usually top 3-5 separate themselves from the pack, then 5 to 15/20 is a gamble where anyone can be picked.

I'm not ruling out playoffs yet but it's not like my hopes are through the roof either. It would be a nice plus.
- BashCH

I'm just happy that they showed, even briefly, that they can be competitive.

They know what they need to do to win now, they just have to be consistent about it.

I did not think they'd make the playoffs this year, just wanted them to still be in it beyond the new year.

They've done that so far, anything else is a bonus.

Pretty much exactly what I think. The beginning of the year was rough, but now that we got a glimpse of what they can do, we can be optimistic about the future.

When they play 60 minutes they are decent. When they play 20 or 40 they suck.

A 3rd liner on a bad team is fine, but he's smart to want term. You can easily find yourself a 4th liner or a waivers guy on a contender. He's 28 and wants that Colton Sissons money.

ok, but despite what he's asking, this isn't his "only good NHL season" as you were saying... he has a specific role on the team and has been very good in terms of what he's been asked to do.

I highly doubt he'll be getting this tremendous overpay anyway, and with the cap reaching 113M soon it's normal that players are seeking a bit more imho.

When they get 2-0 or 3-0 leads, you mean.
