To be fair, with whatever draft capital they do have they can go heavy at C. That’s not off the table. There’s also a lot of money that can be spent in the next few years to get a younger C.
I just don’t think youth should be the biggest focus right now. It matters, no doubt, but with where the roster is they need to go out there and win now. |

Pens own our 1st rounder now - TPC
So with our luck, PITT will be drafting 14th OA this year. Outstanding. |

I wasnt looking for another reason to root against the rangers this year, but I've just been given another one.
Seems we both took Jim Rutherford to the cleaners tonight. |

The place would be better without ya pal |

Yes, we need a Lindgren replacement. We don’t need a 25 year old that’s smaller than Lindgren, and isn’t good….. Every team in the league could’ve claimed him, FOR FREE, just a few weeks ago and didn’t. He’s another Zac Jones |

Personally I am thrilled with the trade
But I understand the people who wanted to strip it down, rebuild and find other 18 year olds that won’t make it in NYC will be sad today.
But hey. Whatever fellas. 🤷♂️ |

I think the hockey world is giving this trade 90% approval rating for the Rangers side.
Prevailing opinion is that the Rangers roasted them.
It’s 100% Penguins roasted Vancouver on their trade though.
But like I said. If you are someone who was expected a total Rangers strip down and rebuild you are probably very unhappy today. |

Why do you keep saying 25 year old like it’s a knock? You make some other strong points but 25 is the prime of a players career. He’s more than likely just a replacement for Mancini in Hartford for now but gives the Rangers an option down the road. |

So play Lindgren instead of brannstrom until we get a different guy. Orrrrr throw him there for a game or two and see what happens. Potentially two midgets with skill playing together having lightning a bottle actually could work but how the hell would we know if they didn’t try!
If the rangers drafted and gave up on Brannstrom you’d be losing your poop about it on a daily basis who you kidding
You may be the new Tom! |

Who are these hypothetical people you keep groaning about
We got the best player in the trade by a long shot. I think the overwhelming consensus here is 1) yay 2) but eh that pick 3) im hungry and on and on and on and then maybe like 57) those other guys we got. What’s their deal? |

Brannstroms AHL numbers have soared this year comparatively speaking to his past numbers. And his NHL numbers aren’t awful.
He was the major prospect in the Mark Stone trade so the pedigree is there. Drury could do worse on a throw in to a trade |

I just don’t see how he fits in unless there’s an injury. Not that it’s a huge concern |

I definitely think that the news that came out yesterday about the salary cap was the catalyst to get the deal done.
Vancouver didn’t want to retain, that was hang up last two weeks.
The cap is going to be 113 mil in 2027. For all we know it will be 120 mil in 2028.

Maybe Urho better served as the 7th guy and he plays with Schneider. Rotate the two.
All I’ll say is it is strange to trade for another guy like Zac Jones, which tells me they plan on using Brannstrom because why else would they trade for him?
I think he gets a shot with Fox (at some point), regardless if they’re both under 6 ft lol |

Retention and pick protection were the things they finally sorted out. Fil was probably going the whole time. Mancini was a good piece to throw in there because we have 3 RHD guys already locked up anyway.
I think the pick being protected makes the overall trade worth it, for even the gazillion Drury haters to admit |

I don’t think Urho has done anything to lose his spot. He’s been dependable as hell. |

If anything we can give Drury credit for getting some D depth within the org, since Trouba left. That’s now 3 NHL defensemen all added, younger and more mobile then Trouba.
I just don’t think they got Brannstrom to play in the AHL. He’s going to get a shot somewhere |
