Like I said no issue trading either one. The issue is the return and the Flyers missing the boat on selling high yet again. - furio16
Correct. Already missed the boat on Laughton and going to miss it with Ristolainen. CoGM is a day late and a dollar short.
Also highlights the dumbness of signing Hathaway and Seeler to their deals. If they needed cap space so bad then find the glue guys on one year deals. They are a dime a dozen available every offseason. |

“We’re trying to teach him how things are done here, the things of understanding conduct of a pro, all the things you do to play. I’m not going to get involved in the situation on the bench tonight. I’m not going to give you specifics. - furio16
Why din't you finish the quote? Oh, that's right, because it doesn't fit your narrative. So allow me to finish the quote here for you:
But it's for the right reasons because we care about him, I care about him, by not cowering away from situations that people may second guess. We are going to do it the right way with this kid because we think he is something special, so it's my job to do that no matter what happens.
But there are certain situations where you need to accept responsiblity. You know, I get put into a box sometimes when these sitations come. This is to help him, in my heart it's to help him, and I am going to continue to do the things we need to do to help him, and we are going to go through the process together. |

Will have at least 6.5 in cap space this summer.
Wonder if they traded them separately, they get a better return? |

What direction they take with the head coach will be telling in the next few months. - furio16
Totally agree. The next HC will be the one to help Michkov continue to move towards Kucherov effectiveness as a winger. Kucherov is not known for blocking shots. Granted, Michkov is very young, so there is plenty of time. I do not want my star players trying to stop slap shots from the points. Kind of defeats the purpose of having skill when they are dedicated to being a defensive wall.
Team philosophy needs to have a structure in place to maximize puck control and keep it in the offensive zone. Suppress shots by keeping the puck as opposed to leading the league in blocked shots. |

You can break down this deal in two ways: Frost for the second-round selection and dumping the Farabee contract. That is, more or less, what went down here. Sure, the Flyers get a free look and Kuzmenko (who can help their power play and has history with Matvei Michkov) along with Pelletier (whom they have liked in the past)
Yet passed on him while on waivers. |

Nothing to finish. Torts is full-fledged car salesman.
You eat up everything he says. He is a total fraud. |

at least one Western Conference team had significant interest in Farabee a few months back and subsequently backtracked significantly.
Late on the Farabee trade as well |

Propaganda piece - corduroy
didn't read more than the headline but unless they sign or trade for a vet C, something stupid, the move does support tanking the remainder of the year, at least that is a start.

Does Michkov float? He does sometimes.
You know what might help getting him to play in all 3 zones? Maybe playing him in a game where they are winning in the 3rd and not sitting him.
The problem is this coach is tying to make this player something he is not. He is a 20 year old. Was Crosby great in his own zone as a 20 year old? Nope. He floated. But now he is pretty good.
NOT EVERY PLAYER CAN BE DEVELOPED THE SAME WAY.
The coach only has his way. And he should be gone. - J35Bacher
Thats true for all coaches. That is why they typically have shelf lives. Lavy and Vineault for example were the same way. They had their coaching methods and when they worked it was good, when it didnt it led to them getting fired

The real loser is TK, his career year was just dealt a serious blow and add in Tip out. You can see other teams game planning for the Flyers, EVERYONE COVER TK. |

Farabee has scored 13 goals in 28 points in the last 81 games! He is nothing more than a middling bottom 6 winger. You can trip over players like Farabee in this league. Frost is all fluff and no stuff, I have been saying it for years. He shows up for two games and then you don't see him for a month. And being the "most talented" center in this organization is not a high bar. But with Cout's decline, who is the best center in the organization now? Its not Frost! Not by a long shot. It's Noah Cates. So let that sink in. Frost is not even better than Noah Cates! I am not spinning anything. These are facts! The only return the Flyers got that they will benefit from is the 2nd round pick. Kuz is gone after this season, and Pelletier is probably a good AHL player that can be a call up. The Flyers moved on from two players that were not part of the future here, and in the process saved themselves 2 more years of paying $5M for a player that gave them 28 points in the past 81 games! - jd250
You are spinning which is ok. People know your shtick. Point is the two best players in the deal are Frost and Farabee. Yes facts matter. Farabee had 50 points last year season….struggled a bit this year but probably would still have finished with 15-17 goals and close to 40 points despite Torts usage of the player. Morgan Frost is a 45 point type center….never was going to be a top line guy but 17-19 goals a year…again those are the facts….not the OPINIONS you have. In the end it’s a salary dump where Briere continues to produce underwhelming results as a GM. Again those are the facts…they just aren’t your OPINIONS….which again is ok.

To be fair Briere and Torts were still in their evaluation process. |

Torts has such a short shelf life. If the issue was those young players being in his doghouse, they should have gotten rid of Torts instead of the kids. Those kids would have been Flyers way longer than the coach.

Which makes the extending of him stupid. If you had this plan he should have been moved for what probably could have been a pretty solid package. |

Does he though? He could be next. Many of Brieres trades have involved moving out Hexy picks. Provy, Frost, Farabee and he even tried moving Sanheim.
If we want a #1C via trade TK is going to be the only real piexe that can accomplish that.

If they keep him yes but they can move him and the fact that hes on a new contract next season makes him a pretty valuable target for a contender\Pretender.
Even if the plan was to keep TK, its not impossible that Briere has seen the team this season and re-evaluated the team and is pivoting from his intial plan. The team was better last year, guys looked like they took positive steps. This season was the opposite. Guys took steps backwards.
As much as I liked Farabee, It was no surprise he was moved. We all knew Frost was gone. We saw countless guys on theis team pass Farabee in the lineup. Brink, Foerster, Michkov and you already had Tippett and TK ahead so you kind of knew Farabee was probably the weak link. Not to mention where theres smoke there is fire. When guys turn up in rumours they are available and they do eventually get moved at some point.
