The D is improved I'm sure. They got their top 4 addition and it should push one more pilon out of the top 6. As for the rest... Miller's contribution has been replaced by spreading the talent around... there's pros and cons to that of course.

Team success started with Vezina type Demko 2 Top 6C’s producing & Hughes making it all tick. Players like Boeser road the coattails of them. He finished well but he’s the beneficiary not core. That alone is why a team friendly or trade while value is fairly high.

Now weak at top 2C’s is a problem when the D got the attention. Role players imo are fine but Dak/Hog need to up their game. With really only Willander coming soon it’s bare on the prospects. Leki still needs more seasoning to be a 200’ winger. Raty looking better still not a bottom 6 C yet. Mynio 2-3yrs away from ready. RePetey looks close & ok in a sheltered role still could use another year in the AHL. Alriksson looks intriguing but still a project. Other prospects are not on the radar yet or prolly never.

Top 6 playmaker is a big hole to fill.
