Doesn't help p we can't buy a call tonight
- keaner17

Yeah, I was wondering why they didn't the Jets for holding or interference when the goalie hadn't secured the puck and Horvat was trying to reach it.

Just started watching the game.
I mean Brock has not slowed down so if you can sign him for a team friendly deal I think he can be productive for a few more years.
The key is what is the cap hit? What are the years? If they aren’t crazy it may make sense to sign him. If the AVV is crazy high then of course you have to think about moving him.
No one here knows what he wants to stay here or what others are willing to throw at Lou to get him at the deadline. If he really likes it here Lou can trade him get assets for the Isles and then sign him in the off season.
JT was a (frank). He didn’t let the Isles get the assets in a trade and went to Toronto. He thought he would win a cup there but guess what JT it didn’t work out.
(frank) you.

Gonna be interesting to see what Lou does this deadline. I understand guys wanting to get younger, but if Nelson is open to a three year somewhat friendly AAV I think I’d be okay with that. I wouldn’t want anything longer than that. But like you mention who knows what’s being offered as a trade or feom contract talks. The guy is good enough to represent US on 4 nations team so I think he’s still got some game left in him.

They are competing. Give them credit.

Edit: Jets goalie kept it even on the PP there!

I hope he gets a lot of money from Minnesota.
- Cptmjl

If we knew what he was worth from a trade perspective vs resigning it would be easy to decide. Time will tell I guess but if he’s willing to do short term deal I’d like to keep him. Who knows whether that’s the case or not. Otherwise I agree get what you can for him.

Yeah, that was the best PP where they didn't score in a long time. Lots of quality chances.

There's what I want them to do and what Lou actually will do. Personally, I'm trading Nelson. If he wants to come back, great, but I want the return. He'll be 34 at the start of next season and his numbers won't likely be getting better.

A bad second period and an elite goaltender in the opponents net. It's another good effort in a loss, but we can no longer afford 'good loses'

I mean if his number will get better than we will probably sign him don’t you think?

Isles played well and I think we know why Hellebuyck is the best goalie in the league.
He played a hell of a game. Isles have no reason to gang their heads tonight. They were competitive for sure.

Heh. Well, the point obviously is that the guy is in pace for 25 goals this season. I don't think you'll ever see him hit 35 again. Maybe not even 30. But if I can get a return representative of that expectation I'm taking it. We're the 4th oldest team in the league and we're not real close to being a contender. We have a pretty substandard prospect pipeline. At some point we need to make the tough decision with these tradeable assets. I mean, if we resign him at 3x6, I won't scream bloody murder, but I will consider declining his trade return a potential regret

A month ago I was all in on selling anyone, save for a few. I’m still mostly okay with that. But some of the leaked rumors got me thinking a little differently about a couple players and potential deala. Who knows what the reality is. All speculation and hear say. We’ll know within a month the direction.

Well, as typical I think the winning streak creates a bit of pause in people's desire to sell. As I said, there's what I think they should do and then what I think Lou will do.
I DON'T think Lou will trade Brock. I dont think he'll be a seller. If anything, I think we may try to buy. Maybe the Dobson rumor is true. I'm not even sure how I feel about that.
Ultimately I just try to take a 30k foot view and I see an aged team that absolutely will not win a cup, but has a decent number of young(ish) players to go through a short term rebuild or retool with. To keep kicking the can down the road will only waste their youth as well. Not to mention remaining peak value of some pending ufa's

I would love to trade him. Get the assets and resign him at a 3x6 deal.
Best of both worlds why not.

Decisions don’t come any easier than this. You have a 33 year old player on an expiring contract who has a lot of value to other clubs. I don’t really understand a short term deal. Do we think we’re Stanley cup contenders in the next three years? That’s the only reason you keep him imo.

Palmieri the same situation albeit a year older. Super easy decisions on both players. Keeping either would be a bad move for multiple reasons. I fully expect Lou to do exactly that.

Well than I hope the return is significant. I would absolutely move Palms, but his return is likely to be a couple picks.
