Trevor Zegras, would you trade Dober for Zegras? Hearing Ducks are looking for Dmen. Zeegs has another year on the books at 5.75 and is RFA after that. Yes, he has had two down years, but he is 23 and has shown he can hit 60 pts.

I would definitely take a serious look at this one. He would check a lot of boxes.

Please elaborate why you feel Zegras is trash? Is it because the last two seasons his numbers have been down? Just curious on why.

I am looking at him as 23 with a ton of potential and a past that has shown he can do it.

Youtube superstar. He may get back to getting his points, but I don't think there's much to his game. I don't care if he can pull the Michigan with ease or about his highlight-reel circus pass/goal to Milano for that goal a few years back. (not implying you do)

There is skill there but he's not a play driver and I don't think there's an ounce of defense to his game. Anaheim gets outshot and outchanced more when he is on the ice vs when he is off of it.

Edit: Anaheim has obviously been a bad team since he's been around, which is important context, but I just don't see "it" when I watch him. He's young and still has time to round out his game and improve, but a project like that is not the kind of return I'm willing to sell Dobson for.

R 51 GM 7G 18A 25PTS (+/-)+9 not terrible first year numbers. At a half a point per game he could hit 40 pts.

1 or 2 year show me deal. 2 to 2.5 mil.

His linemates are Carlsson 19 pts Killorn 24 pts not very overwhelming in the talent department. Matching him up with Barzal and Duc could be what the doctor ordered. Or Barzal and someone new. Keep Lee Horvat Duc.

Your argument is valid. But I think there is something there, that could be special. But that is why I am in construction and not hockey management.

Cpt, I understand both yours and Chiefs point of view. It would definitely be a risky move if the Islanders were to entertain this. Especially on the heels of what went done with Wally.

I also understand the reservations of giving up on a Dman like Dober. I know will search for the concrete move, but it seems with the isles it is never there. So, then we go outside the box.

Appreciate both yours and Chiefs insights.

That was mostly a joke. 😆
With that said I have no issue taking a stab at Zegras but not giving up Dobson for him. I believe Dobson has more value than that. What I would be willing to give up for Zegras and what the Ducks probably want more than likely don’t line up. He’s not worth much imo.

I wouldn't be necessarily opposed to trading for him, but I'm not doing it with Noah Dobson. I don't see enough there to warrant giving up a talent like Dobson, even after a down year for him. Probably don't have much else that Anaheim would realistically want for him, but I'd rather stand pat than lose a good asset on a very risky gamble.

edit: and now I see this is basically what Cpt said 3 minutes earlier

I believe there is mutual interest between #Isles & pending UFA Kyle Palmieri on an extension.

Haha you had to know that was coming. Both Nelson and Palmieri should both test the market as that’s where they’ll get the most money. Teams overspend in free agency to land their target. Whether this report is true or not who knows….but man, if it is, it’s further proof of Lou being dated.

Big game tonight. Seeing Brady Tkachuk in the best on best, and hearing rumblings of him being available, you gotta try and land him.

I would love to find somewhere to place a bet that there will be a "51st state" and or "Governor Trudeau" chant.

The team has gone from not being able to keep players to now keeping them to long. We need a management group that understands balance.

Yup, zero offense, and I believe he was on the ice last night for both the tying goal by Bennett and the winning goal by McDavid. He did not look good on that tying goal, although I don't think he can be faulted on the winning goal. Was that Matthews who left McDavid all alone in the slot???

The other guys you mentioned didn't do much either, but I did notice Kreider throwing a couple of good hits.
