Be real funny if Lou got all these picks and prospects and traded them all at the draft and poof we have a new vet team.

Honestly, one of the biggest deals in making a few of these trades was changing the identity of the team. It's one of the reasons why I wanted Nelson and Lee traded, regardless of how beloved they are.

If he got a 2nd, what can Palms, Lee, and JGP bring back?

The players are way too comfortable, and it has shown.

It's funny how many players fans overvalue in their own system, only to find out how wrong they were once they move on.

We're obviously not in the lockeroom but the responses to bad losses has always been too laid back. Our intensity in big games has often been so flat. Our responses to the physical defense of teammates has been consistently disappointing.
I just think that the team has often been too cerebral and not emotional enough. After changing coaches, you have to question the leaders

Lebrun- Hearing that the Islanders have told pending UFA Kyle Palmieri they're not trading him today and focused on working on a contract extension with him over the coming days.

Awful

Hopefully Lee and JGP still get moved. We've seen this from Lou. He simply does not make a lot of moves. Trading Nelson probably took a lot out of Lou.

I mean, Lou did everything he could NOT to trade Brock. 3 years $7.5m AAS? And Brock turned that down?
It's clear that Lou is not trying to do a retool but was simply forced into a trade. Fortunately he got strong return.

Exactly right. And Lou is exactly wrong for the reasons you stated. A retool was and is needed. I like Palmieri, but he is already getting long in the tooth. Nelly's trade will bring in some new young blood, but Palmieri could have brought in some more.

Is a second rounder worth a 20 goal scorer that has a shot at it the next two years?

At 34yo, extending Palms on a team that is near the bottom of the conference with such a strong sellers market seems nuts.

That’s right. I see no reason to keep this group. The assets that could be moved are worth more than the actual players stats next season. Not sure what Lou’s aversion to re tooling is but it has to be ownership.

Word is ownership is 100% hands off and all moves and philosophy are executed by Lou

Yeah I read the same but when something doesn’t make sense I have to think there’s other reasons. Like you said they’re a bottom of the standings team in a sellers market?? Make it make sense.
