Yeah that has makings of a legit 2nd line. Leaves 3rd and 4th a little barren besides Sherwood, but probably one problem at a time right now.

Doesn't appear Blueger / Dak / Garland are going to find that chemistry they had last year as a very solid third line. Feel a lot has to do with Joshua just not the same (hard to blame). Hopefully he bounces back next year, musta been a terrible off-season.

Apparently the Sherwood/Suter/O'Connor line was great

O’Connor and the handful third line

In the wake of the Miller trade, the Canucks wanted to bring in a heavy forward with some size to offset one of the many areas in which Miller impacts the game.

No one will confuse Miller for Drew O’Connor, but the speedy 6-foot-3 forward is a forechecking ace and a handful to break the puck out against. That’s something the Canucks felt they needed, and something O’Connor was able to provide in his Canucks debut.

The new third line — O’Connor with Suter and Kiefer Sherwood — was probably the Canucks’ best on Sunday night. At five-on-five, that line outshot the Red Wings 6-1 but the one shot against which they were on the ice for resulted in a Red Wings goal.

It was still an auspicious start for O’Connor, who was able to play to the identity the Canucks are looking for in their bottom six with more pace and effectiveness than what Danton Heinen managed throughout this season.

A fresh start might also do him some good, free up his mind a bit. Columbus has a ton of cap space and they have five centers on their roster, four of them being young players (Sillinger/Johnson/Fantilli/Del Bel Belluz), Sean Monohan being the other.

Fantilli is untouchable imo, Johnson and DBB are playing on the wings but they can switch to center easily. Johnson is having a heckuva year and his skating is really good.

- Pacificgem

CBJ looks like a perfect fit not sure if KJ is a true C though. Since getting 3Petey Sabres look less urgent to trade for D but have nice F’s.

Johnson is the guy you want. Columbus could provide a very attractive package for EP116. Let's hope they do. Start fresh next season.

I am looking forward to the line combinations to see how they do until the TDL than the constant sell scenarios.

I don't know what the package will look like for a guy on pace for 50 points. It could be another underwhelming return.

With Pettersson's youth and the chance he could return to form I don't think it will be a Miller-like return but who knows. But man if he doesn't get back on track soon yipes....

The D is looking more like it should without so many depth D starting. Hronek has been disappointing though.

Trading is easier now imo with still plenty of runway til the TDL. Boeser had more jump EP wasn’t a factor again. Both or either gone for the right return.

He's absolutely not lazy, you don't average the most ice-time being lazy in the NHL. He lead all forwards last season on the Canucks with 19:39 in ice-time. JT Miller was second.

Is he a weird kid, yeah, apparently he is. I don't care if he's traded, but he doesn't deserve the hate he gets.

First game after the trade the media was a little rough on EP, yesterday a lot more. I can see the media soon being mean to Petey very soon. Sat Shah said yesterday for 11.6 mil you need to be a lot better than 60 points.

The Canucks just traded a top 6 C and people want to trade the teams only other one

You guys really want this team to suck hey?

- NorthNuck

He’s a 1C only by acclimation not performance. Paid as a 1C results of top 6 winger at best. Big decision time like it or not. He’s tradable due to risk reward & no protection. Selling high is very enticing. Locked up for 7 more years imo helps greatly.

Imagine coming in to work every day and watching one of your coworkers berate another coworker, smash stuff, and argue with your bosses for months. The day you come in and it's finally quiet would be such a breath of fresh air
- NorthNuck

Imagine all of that & paid a lot more to put up with it. I think I could suffer playing a game I luv for a ton of money & get 1st class treatment over my current career that I have no complaints about. Taking something for granted & self entitlement don’t fly with me.

Been a petey supporter until about a month ago. That's 1 year of poop hockey and the fact that the coach and the management is working with him on his preparation habits is all too telling. Can't win with guys like that. Get rid of him
- Jkuzzi

Biggest knock is slow & not a play driver. That alone at his cost means good bye. If he had 20 goals no but not even close or could be.

Gut say PA itching to pull the trigger for a big offer.

CBJ has what we need & can gain more cap…

KJ/1st+
Sillinger/Voronkov/1st/+

Ducks for a haul & gain cap as well…

Just curious, why do you keep calling him that? Its' very childish and stupid.

I haven't seen him Pout in ages, The Kid actually draws more penalties than most players in the league, never see him pout or rarely look to the refs for a call. You should grow up a little - your shtick is getting old.

The fact that none of you think this kid is gonna rebound within the next 7 years is baffling.

- Brooks_Light

His skating looks slow & he doesn’t move his feet. Doesn’t shoot or hit the net. Doesn’t & never did drive play.

There isn’t much optimism all of that will change imo. Most of it can but at 11.6m why does he need to be told?

It's wild hey? He's extremely stoic and composed virtually all the time and yet he gets called pouty? Reminds me a lot of how people talked about the Sedins.
- NorthNuck

Sedins led the team to success & true cup contenders & the HOF. No duo ever played keep away like them.

EP has a long ways to go to get close.

Both sides deserve the scrutiny for putting that sort of money on the table before anything was won. I think the biggest mistake made by a lot of managers is opening the vault before a player is a proven winner.

But yeah, being one of the top paid players and performing like Petey is deserves scrutiny. He's brought it on himself by wanting that pay grade and putting money before the team.
