Mark Cuban sold over 70% of his share in the company, so I don't think he had any say in the move. Mark also publicly said he'd keep Doncic over his wife

Ya, that trade boiled down to $$ and control. The NBA has been so player-driven that owners are basically riding shotgun and collecting paycheques. I'm not blaming the players but it is what it is and some teams are trying to buck that culture and regain some control.

Super-max contracts are now going to be 5 x 70M ...350M and Doncic was going to have to be signed this summer. Mavs decided they didn't want to lock up Doncic for age 27-31 at those numbers. He's had all sorts of injury and fitness issues and he's only 25 ..I think they just didn't believe he'd age very well.

The supermax $$ is another reason fans are struggling with relating to this sport. Guys like Butler hold out, mid-(frank)ing-season, b/c the team indicates they aren't going to give him the massive extension he wants. Once the agents find out you're thinking about trading their client they take over ..trying to orchestrate whatever is best for them.

That's why the Mavs kept it quiet ...they did their homework ..found the one or two scenarios that would make sense ..and pulled the trigger before the player/agent could get involved.

Tickets are generally much cheaper too so the average fan is able to participate more directly.
- The Law

I really feel this is and will affect teams down the line. The cost of getting into games is too high at times.

My friend and I were discussing, for crap upper bowl tickets at the raptors on Wednesday it's $100 a seat. Raptors are in last place.

I franking love Gene Saratore on the NFL broadcasts (he's a rules expert who they pipe in whenever there's a review on the play).

Why the frank the NHL can't copy this simple idea is beyond me.

But hey, the NHL gunna NHL, I guess.

- Atomic Wedgie

The NHL has an unhealthy obsession with never admitting it's wrong on anything, including when the on ice officials or the DOPS gets it wrong. It's a huge black mark on the sport and completely insane if they really do want to 'grow the sport' as they keep saying they do.

Ya, generally too expensive. But, follow the Wedgie plan and you can get some dirt cheap tickets.

Hit tm or stubhub an hour before the game ...keep an eye on a few sets ...go down and grab a beer nearby ...and 15 mins (or less) you can scoop up tickets well below face value.

I've scooped up Raps tickets ...lower bowl for ~100 a piece. It gets a little tougher if you're looking for more than a pair though.

Have you ever employed this ticket technique on Blue Jays games?

Yes I know there are always 500 level seats for face value but who wants to sit way up there?

I never have, but I would imagine it would work just as well.

Although you may want to go to the Pint Public House instead of the Keg.

Do ushers bother to check for weekday games?

Their average attendance last year was 33,000, meaning for weekday games the building must be around half-empty (or half-full!).

My guess is with a bit of confidence, you could sit anywhere outside the VIP seats and nobody would say boo.

Oh I know the Pint well, my office is close to it - they have decent eats and good pricing too. I still remember when it was a Planet Hollywood!

you cant magagreat omelete if you dont break a few eggs

The soaring price of eggs has forced Waffle House to add a temporary surcharge on customers’ orders.

In defense of every Leaf fan from 2007 - 2016 - the team was so hopeless that all the rest of us had was hope. Blinding stupid hope that when you shone the light of reality on it, all you had left was the stupid.

Be it Franson, Earl, Wellwood, Battaglia, Colaiacovo could stay healthy and be good, Pohl as an acquisiton of waivers would be good, Stahlberg, Gustavsson, Clarke MacArthur and Versteeg or Colby Armstrong, Lombardi - or maybe giant Aulie would come and be good for us when he sucked everywhere else he'd been! Didn't we all think that Leivo or Peter Holland might be a little better than they turned out to be?

Blinding stupid hope. It's the only guiding light that suffering sports fans have.

- Monkeypunk

Franson did have one good season.....wellwood also looked great for 48 games or so.
But ya, we would cling to anything

Not gonna lie, the 500 sections in-between home and first or home and third offer great views of the whole game. I do prefer these seats overall.
Its a nice treat once in a while to be in lower bowl....but for eyes on everything cant go wrong with certain 500 sections. Specially the one by the cheap beer and food stand.

Basketball was set to destroy hockey in Canada...yet now Drake sucks and everybody hates him. The Raptors suck and nobody cares. The NBA's ratings are down 58% because their stars are overpaid douchebags and everybody hates them.
