You can feel Danny’s urgency to get a center. Way to position yourself as desperate going into trade and FA negotiations - Just5
It’s going to be an overpayment because a lot of the league is looking for centers. A lot of fans are going to hate the deal.
They would be better off sucking for one more year but I don’t think the patience is there for that. |

Not sure what people were expecting this season. I fully expected them to be worse.
Now they will be worse than I thought they will be.
I hope there are a few more trades. He can only make trades that make sense for the team and just not for the sake of making a trade. He does not have a lot to work with.
I don't want them to be as bad as Chicago or San Jose. - WhiskeyMan
Flyers PP : 28th, SJ : 26th, Chi : 10th
Flyers PK : 20th, SJ : 24th, Chi : 11th
Flyers #1 Center : ?, SJ : 18 yr old Celebrini, Chi : 19 yr old Connor Bedard
Not to mention the projected #1 dmen they both drafted. The Flyers are already behind both those teams in many ways.
Last i checked neither of those teams were shut out 3x in a row, nor set the NHL record with 3 consecutive last place finishes in PP% but the concern is that the Flyers will be viewed negatively.
The Flyers are going to miss the play offs and it matters to you whether they miss by 5 or 15 more so than whether or not they have the best chance at getting the elite talent they need? |

Especially when they didn’t intend to suck this year. |

They really tried to force Jett to be that guy to the point they convinced themselves that a kid who was not close to being NHL ready made the team out of camp. The first month of the season was really quite embarrassing to watch both from the FO trying to make promote Jett and by extension patting themselves on the back and then sitting him while everyone botched excuses to the way they dealt with Andrae.
It was a total poopshow from the GM to the coach.

SJ should be set in net w/ Askarov too.
Meanwhile the Flyers have nothing but RWs and RWs playing LW lol. |

Don't forget San Jose already has a potential 2C in Will Smith while Chicago has one in Oliver Moore. They are even further behind than some think.

But does SJ and Chicago have the culture that the flyers have? Are they the Gold Standard of the NHL? Those are the kinds of things that separate the wheat from the chaff |

Cracks me up when people bring up SJ and Chicago as comps of what they don't want the Flyers to be. Both teams are significantly ahead of the Flyers in terms of positioning themselves as contenders in the future.

This is where the rubber meets the road. Undoubtedly, these other imposter franchises are just spinning their wheels as the flyers take off leaving them in the rearview |

Man, I'm gonna start coming here when I want to get away from the local Chicago negativity towards the team.
Y'all really know how to lift the spirits of fans from other teams. Not that anyone asked, but the problems in Chicago are that KD overcorrected and signed too many fossils to be placeholders until all the prospects were ready instead of just adding guys that could reasonably play hockey, but you wouldn't really mind sitting if a kid was ready. They also just canned Luke Richardson out of the blue. Everyone was concerned that Bedard wasn't scoring and it seemed a bit knee jerk (and obviously hasn't changed much outside of Bedard scoring more. I was hoping KD would make a move for Kakko, Frost or both as I didn't think they would be overly costly to get and they seemed to be really competent (high bar I know).
After seeing him for a bit over half the season, what are your impressions of MM? Worth the hype (despite how the coaches are using him)?

Hard to believe that just 3 weeks ago the question was whether or not the Flyers should be sellers or not. Aside from Buffalo, every team in the East was in the playoff hunt. Montreal, NYI, Pittsburgh was in full buyer mode, Philly was in on Marner. Things sure changed quickly. |

They should have gone after frost. The kid is talented but the local legend is that Torts is holdng him back. It's very possible that it is actually true.
Either way, I hope he does well with a new coach. A coach who will actually utilize him for the player that he is instead of failing at turning him into the a player that he isn't
Coincidentally, another local legend says that torts is ruining MM.
That legend is also very possibly true |

Hes done more things I liked than disliked. Id prefer the Flyers always have 1-2 guys in a spot they can move or let go at any point An Example would ne Seeler. I dont like he was signed for 4 years or that he got 2 years of NTC. This is exactly the kind of guy you move this season because Andrae has shown he is ready but they cant unless he chooses to go elsewhere and someone wants to commit for 3 more years to him.

Yet the people on the left still want to put up roadblocks instead of working with the President.
Whether you like him or not he wants what is best for the country overall. No reason why all can’t work together to get better deals than ones in place. |

You really can’t look at it without considering the coach/front office situation here. There’s no doubt he’s really talented and creative. He thinks the game super fast and does unexpected things, but it’s hard to imagine he’ll reach his potential here. |

MM has a ton of skill slowly getting sucked out of him by the coach. By the end of the year he will be more will to take a puck to the face while blocking a shot than tryin to score a goal ala the Michigan
