Our biggest hole is center, and do you know how the injury is gonna affect him in the future, yes the kid looks good. - SlNlSTER
and 1D is another huge hole. But hey, last year they reached for a C while completely passing on a potential 1D. Makes perfect sense when you draft for need and not BPA.

It's more important to fill 1D than 1C.
A dude like Schaefer, who is often compared to a modern day Scott Niedermeyer, will be on the ice for literally half the game, jump starting every possession and being the primary stopper defensively.
Hagens isn't gonna come close to that kind of impact... lot of folks are predicting he'll be more of a 2C in the NHL. |

Oh I agree I would have drafted the d last year, but in fairness they probably didn't want to deal with that agent.
If he was a number 1 d then why he drop so far in a weaker draft, there must be a reason. I'm thinking teams are getting tired of that agent way of doing business, I definitely could be wrong but thats my guess |

Could not agree more. To me, if you have the chance to get Schaefer, you don't even think about it. Make the pick and address the C position w the other picks. It's simple really, but you know, the Triumvirate will need a 200 foot center that plays "flyers hockey."

After years of futility the Flyers still do not have a #1 center, #1 D, or a #1 goalie. - furio16
You are wrong
The Room Jr™ is going to be like McDavid
Hunter McDonald is the American version of Nick Lindstrom
Yegor Zavragin is going to be better than Dryden, Roy, and Broduer

Let me ask you something, the D that were picked before Buium, were any of them outlandish picks?
As far teams getting tired of the that agent. What other teams would you be referring too? |

That is pure stupidity -- and that shows that the issue with Cutter was the FO fault and not the kids |

For all the faults of the current regime, I don't get the sense they won't draft a Dman early. At the last draft, Briere looked like someone stole his dog after SJ selected D!ckinson. They were rumored to value Yakemchuk. Certainly, fair to question why Buium was not held as high as regard as the other 2 Dmen. I tend to believe they will take Schaefer if they win the lottery. Not exactly like the current regime has been huge risk takers so far. So bypassing the consensus best prospect in the draft, who has all the measureables and production does not seem like a move they would make. Just my thoughts.

Then that is dumb, petty, and not good business.
I agree that agent played a big part in them not picking Buium. |

They are third worst in the NHL in goals allowed...so why wouldn't you trade him if you can get a good return? Because the Flyers are going to make a run at a cup in the next two years? Get a clue. |

It's a collar bone, tho, from driving the net. Not a Nolan Patrick kind of thing.

I guess the Phillies should've stiffed any Boras client after the JD Drew fiasco. Ditto the Eagles and Drew Rosenhaus after TO.
If the Flyers have an ongoing spat with Kurt Overhardt and his agency, then they themselves are idiots. He is going to be around a long time and representing more and more drafted players. |

Maybe it’s not so much of a spat as it is a fear of drafting another college player who is repped by him. |

Bonk 6'2" - physical defenseman
Richardensen 6'3" - aggressive skilled physical defenseman
Yak 6'3 - heavy hitter skilled physical defenseman
Buium 6'0 - ridiculously skilled and complete defenseman but not someone who is as physical as the other players.
Smaller and not that physical presence that the Flyers covet above all else. Plus the FO was drooling over The Room 2.0. |

My sources tell me that the org asked Buium to spell intangibles and he couldn't that put the fork in the flyers selecting him |

Why though? You run the risk of getting stiffed by any college player you draft, regardless of who their agent is. Should they avoid drafting Hagens if he is being advised by KO? |

Ok, but a counter to this is when players were asked who they would most like to play for, Torts came in 7th ahead of Cassidy and Laviolette. - jd250

Word on the street is The Room™ is going to ask opposing players their thoughts on torts and if the reply is not he's great he is going to jabbed them in the nuts with his stick |
