Hugo Brossoit: Sliding down to the bottom - Hugo Brossoit
I think the combo of Evans and Armia might be hard to replace.
Good energy and amazing PK work.
Not sure Armia is more valuable than Evans, but you sure would get a lot more for Evans on the trade market.
As for Laine, I have heard he is a streaky player, rather thana consistent player, and I think that is what has frustrated organizations and coaches.
But his 5v5 numbers are pretty bad. Is that Laine or just a byproduct of that whole 2nd line?

good blog
I agree that Laine is a bit reminiscent of Hoffman at times, really frustrating to watch... he said he wants to be more involved and become useful at 5 on 5, but he'll need to make some serious adjustments to his game if he wants to do that. |

Laine reminds me a lot of Kovalev, actually.
Plays awesome when excited, doesn't seem to give a (frank) when he is not.
Just no consistency.

huh, I find they're completely different players, besides maybe for the lack of consistency you mention. |

I understand the comparison, but while you could accuse Kovalev of not being intense at every aspect of the game, he was extremely dynamic with the puck and in the offensive zone.
Like I said in the blog, maybe Laine is more banged up than we think, but his overall lack of intensity everywhere on the ice is slowly getting to me.

well it's a little more of a down feeling than the last blog but his optimism is actually my favorite part. he doesn't do kneejerk reactions just to have a sensational take on any situation. |

Well, in fairness, Newhook and Dach are not helping.
And he is likely feeding off that by his own lackluster play.

yeah, but I think Laine is even less noticeable at 5 on 5 than Kovalev could sometimes be, especially with his recent play... I do hope he figures it out though, so that he can put that laser of a shot to good use in any circumstance during a game. |

I thought the 2nd line looked better with Anderson than it did with Laine.
They're still not great and need to be better but you saw some decent flashes from Newhook and Dach when paired with Anderson. They were completely anemic with Laine. |

I could probably multiply the amount of money EK gives me to blog by a 100 if I were to sensationalize my blogs. But I like my integrity more.
Also, 100x0 isn't much better than 0x0.

That line just lacks energy. Andersson brought some.
Anderson has been my unsung hero of the season so far.
(Gallagher playing effectively a lot of nights and probably getting to 15+ goals is second).

Habs need a major shake up outside of Suzuki, Caufield, Hutson everyone else is pretty much expandable. I am also not sold of MSL being the long term coach |

Yup, once you see these guys for what they are, which is good bottom 6 players, you really appreciate them every game.
Granted they're still overpaid but their salary currently doesn't matter so who cares?
