I’d rather have Barzal straight up but that’s just me. Reunite Horvat and Petey. |

Trade Petey to the Rangers for a pic of Miller's reaction and future considerations....

To Detroit for Kasper, Danielson & Wallinder.
Or
To Utah for Hayton, Kesselring & a 2nd. |

I discovered something interesting this afternoon, when Rutherford first traded for Marcus Pettersson from Anaheim he traded Daniel Sprong for him. - A_SteamingLombardi
Back then, I thought the Penguins got a steal from Anaheim, but pretty sure analytic gang, like Lefty and his sidekick Nucker were calling me an idiot.
All good though, I take a valued defenseman, all day, every day. |

And what is the alternative?
28 games left, so even if Petey goes PPP the rest of the way, which is highly unlikely, that puts him at 63 points. So the option of him not being at the bottom of his potential value is not realistic.
To quote Bert "It is what it is"
So based on his serious lack of production over a significant number of games now, his value will only drop. There just isn't enough track left before July 1 for him to improve his numbers for any increase from this low evaluation. As a team, the decision to cut bait and move on or not has to happen ASAP. I cant see them standing pat on this past the trade deadline, let alone past the 4 Nations thingy. He isn't going PPP anytime soon, he doesn't even shoot the puck anymore.
IMO, trade him now before it gets any worse, or he gets injured, and then it's out of their hands. They have to move him before that no trade kicks in. So tear off the bandage and get it over with. |

Petey's play, regardless of all the extra crap that happened, and management's miscalulation on resigning him to the deal have lead us here. The mess is sitting there and needs to be cleaned up. You can wait until it soaks in and makes it harder to cleanup, or get it done quickly. |

61 pts
He has been averaging a point every 3-4 games since January. So unless he hits a hot streak he will be at 42 points at year end. |

Exactly, so with so few games left you have 2 choices. Keep him, no trade kicks in and hope he recovers mentally and physically to something close to the contract value. Or trade him.
I wouldn't take that risk, so they have to deal him now.
I cant see how waiting to the last minute and going to the draft helps anything. What if there is a flood? |

It allows more teams to trade for him. A lot of teams don't have the cap space now, but will have more space come the off-season (especially when they can go over the cap). |

I say move him ASAP, yesterday. He is a distraction. With so many good things happening recently and still have 90 % of the talk being negative and being about him, you remover the remainder of the cancer. He is a cancer.
The Canucks can make a deep push in the playoffs if they get one or two more pieces by TDL and stop trying to fix Petey.
The Avs won again tonight beating the Oilers and last game Flames. Canucks looked very good against the Avs who are a very good team. They need a bit more scoring and the will be back to last years pace. |

With the cap numbers going up next year and alot more the next couple, I don't think that is a big issue. The deal won't be just picks coming back, so a deal evening out the salaries should be able to be done.
I think the risk of his value dropping lower and even worse, him getting injured and shutting it down for the season are far more important at this point. If he got hurt, and was gone for the season, the team is stuck. No way I would take that risk as a GM. If Dobson is actually available from NYI, and they interested in Petey? Hammer out a deal ASAP. You then have the best D in he league. Work on strengthening the C afterwards. |

The cap numbers going up in the offseason help, not hurt, trading him then. The cap isn't going up at the deadline.
And sure, salaries are getting exchanged, but forcing one now might limit yourself when the offseason is more open ended. Or you're potentially taking on contracts you don't want to take on.
Allvin and Ruthy know the circumstances. They know what people are offering. They're going to move him if and when the right offer is there, not some immediate knee-jerk trade. If they decide to move him at all. |

I still think he winds up staying a Canuck. If he gets moved so be it, he'll go be a perennial 80-100 point, Selke-capable player for some other team, but personally I think he's built up enough reputation in Van to earn the benefit of the doubt when it comes to figuring his game out. Miller just got moved, and with guys like the Sedins around, there is a system in place that should be able to get him back on track |

He is not on the Abby Roster. - VANTEL
That is a technicality for purposes of practicing with the Canucks while QH is out and not having the spot that Friedman was using in Abby.
Unless you think he’s staying to sit in the press box and they put Juulson on Waivers when QH is back.
Of course, there is always the possibility of a trade of Soucy maybe in a package with Boeser out.
I will not go into the EP40 rumors because management has pivoted to look at that in the off season. If there was a trade for Petey now they would have done it regardless of what they did with JTM. |

Food for thought on keeping the 1st or adding another by the TDL. There are three right hand centers in the mid-to-late 1st round, as per Dobber Prospects: Braeden Cootes, Brady Martin, Cole McKinney.
Not only are the Canucks desperate for top 6 centers they have no right handed ones anywhere in their system either. |
