Musk is taking direct control of government expenditure systems to stop payments and gut agencies without congressional approval and Trump is pushing tariffs as a revenue source to replace taxes that are set by Congress. This will all go through the court system and he’s counting on a Supreme Court that tends to support an expanded role of the Presidency.

As long as he keeps throwing red meat at his base by rounding up brown immigrants, enough will stay with him. It’s not like he’s going to run again.

Lots of voters across the spectrum can sense that the country is broken and everything is pretty much stacked against them. Trump’s superpower is that he was able to say that in simple terms and that he was going to fix it for them. He never had solutions other than scapegoating large swaths of people while (frank)ing over his base.

You’re right that Bernie is the most forceful Dem (well actually an Independent) in coming out and saying that people are getting (frank)ed over. Unfortunately, his fixes are more complicated and don’t really play to people’s anger. Most of the rest of the Dems are pretty much tied into the status quo.
