Americans playing well defensively, not a lot of emotion after that start, except the occasional big hit.
That American kid playing for Canada, Harley, laid out Hughes nicely at the blue line. - Pacificgem
Didn't see it won't watch the trash. Saw some hilites this AM looks like Crosby and McKinnon were pretty invisible. And yet another example of how Hockey Canada puts together a poor roster. Some important players were left off...

Great game! Those Tkachuk boys are winners. Canada should have known better and taken Tom Wilson.
Would have been tough to beat that USA team twice in a short series. - K-man25
Brady is pretty solid but Turtlechuck Matt is mostly just a passenger in most cases. But hate to say it Wilson should have for sure been there and Weegar in for Doughty and add Schiefle as well. Not a good selection committee.

Quinn will be all good to play after this "thingy", right?
3Petey hasn't really played with him yet...... 3Petey looked "steady" (compared to most of the Canucks defencemen)
Just trying to keep positive.

To clarify, it's trash, you didn't watch it, but from the highlights you determined that two of the best players on earth were invisible and that's the example of why hockey Canada can't put together a decent roster??? wow so much to unpack.
It was arguably one of the best, most intense games ever played in history.
I love the "it's stupid cus it's a cash grab" argument - just a question for anybody - what pro sporting event isn't a cash grab??? And, if you're a grown human, how can you not differentiate/separate the two?

Why watch highlites when you claim to be not remotely interested in the tournament?
Then again, you're the dude that brags about betting on a corrupt league.

Yeah I don’t get the “it’s trash” crap. Agree it was one of the best games we’ve got to see in a while.
John Cooper needs to manage the bench better. I’ve seen enough of the Tampa line. How can you expect to play a hard fought game in the corners along the boards and play Marchand and Bennett less than 10 minutes in the game?

I grew up with a guy who thought it was cool to oppose every “mainstream/popular event” it was important to be vocal that he was against it. That’s the vibe I get from the “it’s trash” “cash grab” crew.
While I do agree that with Hummungous that there are some roster player changes I’m sure most would rally for.
Marchand/Bennett need more TOI than Cerelli/Jarvis and maybe Thompson/Kuemper should be here instead of Binnington/Monty but it’s a team game.
The reality is the US had a game plan and executed it to perfection. Super physical, great D than didn’t give up maybe scoring chances and a world class goalie - they popped a few and that’s all they needed.
Looking forward to the Finn game and hopefully we can get a chance at redemption in the final.

I think Thompson had a beef with Vegas after being the odd man out. With Cassidy as a coach he wasn’t getting selected.

Not going to please everyone with the roster selections but I think we can all see that some players shouldn’t have been selected. If Armstrong wasn’t involved, do you think Parenko or Billington would have been on the team? Doughty fresh back from injury?

Other than injuries - you could make a claim for Jarvis/Parayko/Cerelli/Doughty/Binnington.
Scheifele, D Strome, Duchesne, Bouchard, Hamilton, Chabot, Kuemper.

Listening to the reason they gave for selecting Doughty was a head scratcher. They talked about how many minutes a night he can play and how many long playoff runs he's done. So I'm thinking is this tourney going to run 2 months of 90 min games or something instead of 4 games?

That was a beauty pass by him to McDavid on the Canadian goal though.

The America D has been fantastic. Just imagine if they had Quinn as well! I would trade any Canuck player or prospect for Brady
