Most of this I admit I did not know. I will admit I find it oddly amusing that they show up to one of the biggest old rich white man events of the year to help the old farts make more money.

Not 70 go figure. 51 minus the back n forth with hickabilly? The real total? Idk pass out face down drunk in a urinal or be suffocated by somebody with a pillow when passed out drunk. Unwarranted Inciteful posts I followed up on are removed brings the total to what? Either back read for context or go wag your finger elsewhere. Money says you ignore what factors into the above. Convenient.

Save yourself the bother & go read my scoreboard save you time.

Lastly if going to play ref donā€™t play favourites

Here is what I found so far:

ā€œIf you donā€™t see and hear all the messages Kendrick just sent to America I feel sorry for you.
1. Samuel L Jackson playing Uncle Sam aka the house ni**ga) like he played in Django.
2. Samuel L Jackson warning Kendrick to play the game white America wants us to play and not be ā€œghettoā€
3. The Squid games stage which symbolizes the rich killing the poor.
4. The dancers in Red White & Blue representing the American flag
5. The stage also being a prison yard where his black performers harmonized while he rapped.
6. Protecting black women like Serena Williams after the disrespect from Drake
7. And once again reminding Drake and America
ā€œThey Not Like Usā€
Yā€™all please this is bigger than rap! Repostā€

I can safely say, you were not the intended audience/demographic the NFL was trying to reach with that performance. Since 2020, all performers have been ethnically diverse and have been within the rhythm or rap genres.

And Kendrick Lamar is one of the most popular musicians on the planet right now. "Not Like Us" broke multiple streaming records and earned him five Grammy awards. Plus, on the cool side, he has a Pulitzer for music. He's talented as poop, and the performance was definitely aimed towards a different demographic.

100%.

I didnā€™t even watch the game really. Saw maybe 10 minutes of it with sound off while helping my son with his Calculus homework. My daughter turned on the sound for the half time and it was awful.

I guess there is a reason I donā€™t give a poop about the nfl.

I can also safely say that the NFL doesn't really know their audience and putting on shows like that turn off the very demographics that they're looking to court. Funny how pandering to any demographic never seems to work out the way they want. Problem is that nowadays, people and corporations do things solely for social media engagement and get influencers on board and end up alienating most of their consumer base. I remember the days when putting KISS, or Black Sabbath/Ozzy Osbourne on for the half-time show was considered controversial because of the connotations of them being symbols of Satanism.

The halftime show was amazing! I love K-Dot!!! It appears only old white men are complaining. Maybe next year, the halftime show will feature Kenny Rogers or Kenny G to tickle your fancy!

If you enjoy that trash you really shouldn't be making music recommendations dude hahahahaha

I guess 'musicians' that don't use instruments are the thing...

As I mentioned, understanding his political messages and statements will require some time. You could practically write a book about last night's performance. Indeed, last night wasn't tailored for a specific audience, but as a BIPOC individual, the message was loud and clear.

I think the NFL knows their audience quite well. The growth of their viewership is case in point of that. The people tuning in to watch the Super Bowl are going to watch it regardless of who is performing.

Just like the Taylor Swift thing. NFL die hards complained about it but still tuned in, and a lot more young people started watching because of her.

Not sure I can agree with your blanket statement, I think the music is trash regardless of what colour the performers are.

Guess I should tell my Goan daughter in law and my two mixed racial grandchildren that Iā€™m a fragile old white guy because I think the music sucks.

I do not like Taylor swift either, what negative connotation can be applied here, oh I know my white misogyny is showing.

Does it really? In the US, the ratings were actually down from it's peak, the half-time show barely got a bump. I agree that globally the NFL is stronger but it's losing a lot of US fans with some of it's production decisions. Social media engagement was beyond massive, but how much of that actually translates to actual fans buying team and league merchandise or buy the tickets to the stadiums for games. The NFL is UNQUESTIONINGLY the top pro league in NA in terms of revenue generated/TV ratings, but increasingly since it started courting and even pandering in a lot of ways to other demographics it's appeal has lessened with those that actually pay for the tickets, suites, merchandise and watch the games.

Putting Kendrick Lamar in the half-time show is the same as the NBA putting Garth Brooks to sing at the All-Star game to try and pander to a small portion of fans that make up the total audience of the NBA and alienating the rest.

I don't like Taylor Swift nor Lamar. I do love Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings and almost anything from Dap Tone records. Gary Clark Jr. can shred, too.
