Isn't Minten projected to be a third line centre? We already have Jett for that role. - TheFreak
Not at all, he was a high 2nd round pick, has good size and a wicked shot. Way too early to project where Minten will end up, but he has high end skill and NHL size. |

Sounds like trade talks are heating up around #Flyers center Scott Laughton.
Sources indicate #Leafs and #nhljets are two of the teams who have shown the most interest, but handful of teams are in the mix.
With Risto on the shelf, again!, the Flyers at a minimum have got to trade Laughton. I am hearing runors about Fraser Minten from the Leafs. He is a 20 year old center that has good upside. Hopefully Risto will be fine by the deadline. - jd250

Mikael Granlund (center who put up 45 points in 52 games for the sharks) and Ceci (who was playing almost 22 minutes a night for the sharks) got back a 1st and 4th.
People may need to temper their expectations. |

I heard Fraser's name of a few pods I listened to over the weekend. I didn't know much about him so I looked him up. Not sure why there so much hostility here?? |

Granlund deal isnt all that relevant. There several things to consider. Granlund is a rental. Laughton is not. You are also got to consider supply and demand. How many teams are looking and whats available? The Flyers could also retain salary which would increase the price. While its completely possible we dont get a 1st, its also possible we do

I am so happy with this win that even listening to Tom Brady ramble is bearable. - Flyers_01
Dude talks like one of those vapid eye-candy sideline reporters... not a guy who's got 10 Super Bowls worth of football experience.
For sure he understands the game at an incredibly high level but it doesn't come across at all.

I'm okay with any type of return, basically. Laughts and Risto will be too old to be major contributors when the Flyers are true cup contenders. Better to acquire assets that have a better chance to help when the Flyers are relevant again. Those assets acquired may not work, but at least they realized where the team is at presently, and started to move in the right direction.

Way to much grab-ass from him yesterday. I would love him to dive into plays and tell us why something like an interception happened, or why that play worked, or what the defense was showing versus doing. But that is not what the networks want. They want a cheer leader that promotes the game and its stars. Tony Romo did this well but was open and critical when needed, but he got a hard time for it. |

2g.2a -4 in 15 Leafs games this year, 5g5a -4 in 16 games with the Marlies. Hardly high end skill.
I don't see him as an ungrade at all. |

Upgrade to what? The Flyers will be trading Laughton and Risto and looking to get back young prospects that have high end potential. The kid is only 20 years old! |

He sure likes to talk about himself. Fox is giving him $37 mil x 10 years for that. Its good to be Tom Brady |

It is relevant as he is a significantly better player. Laughton having an extra year may be attractive to some teams while not as attractive to others.
If they were smart they would retain. I dot not think they are smart. Add in they want as much cap space as possible not sure they go that route. |

This two will not return players with high end potential. Nor should they be expected to.
Whatever move they make you will approve no matter what. |

Laughton has 1 more year. Retention is fine. Worst case its 1.5mill. Its not like Risto who has 2 years left at a much higher cap hit.
Flyers have plenty of cap space with cap increase, Peterssen, Atkinson, DeAngelo, RyJo off the books. Its like 11 mill. Think they got 68 mill tied up next season

Hes 20. Lots of room for improvement. Cant judge a guy based on a small sample size in the ahl and nhl in his first season in the ahl.
Expectations should be tempered as hes a early 2nd round pick and no guarantee to be an NHL player but the kid is still considered a rookie in the ahl. Development takes time

Retain on both to maximize the return would be the smart play.
they have their own RFA to sign and whatever free agents they pursue they will have to overpay. |

Rather get younger guys already more developed as do not trust the Flyers development. |

I agree but chances are we wont get someone like that for Risto and Laughton. Youd have to find a team desperate to win now. Leafs could be that team but dont really know what other teams would make such a move. Carolina made one already

That uses up all three retention slots through next season. Not a huge deal but takes away some flexibility in trades. Would be fine to take a contract back in one of the deals.
Would be great to take back a D-man with one year left for Risto's contract. Kind of like Farabee-Kuzmenko portion of the deal last week. |

Philly fans have earned their reputation. Years go, Flyers eliminated the Habs and some of our fans were complete A-Holes towards the Habs fans. I remember talking to the couple next to me and they were just good people rooting for the Canadians. The BS some of the fans dishes out was embarrassing. - mikeyo27
So all Philly fans earned their reputation because you went to one game and people were mean? I have been to most clinching flyers playoff games over the past 40 years or so including that habs game. Don't recall any issues there. Thanks for chiming though and - go birds..
