Something that I've never understood about the NHL:

The all-star game started as a fund raiser for Ace Bailey. OK, great.

Then it morphed into a fundraiser for the NHLPA's pension fund. OK, I'm still on board.

Once it became stale, the NHL's raison d'etre was they needed the game to thank/schmooze their major sponsors. Whatever.

But now that they hold several outdoor games a year, can't they just schmooze the sponsors at those games, and let the all-star game/weekend die?

I think they could make "The Winter Classic" an outdoor All-Star game / skills competition and it could be done correctly to make everybody happy.

The players generally don't enjoy the All-Star game but seem really amped up to play an outdoor game. So they would be happy. The stadium would be way bigger and thus more money, more advertising so the league would be happy.

there is a bout a dozen on the list, but only a few players get the crazy contracts.
But other sports players make more, its just sports I dont care about
