I did go to another country. Thanks. Doing great here!

If Kamala got elected America would still be cooked. You're not going to solve this with right wing economics, be it the Democrats Center-right corporate shilling or the Republicans all-out war on everyone but billionaires.

Canada does protect its dairy industry….but that’s part of the free trade pact…it’s a known irritant…. Canada does not have any Tarrifs that I know of….hence the “free trade agreement”. Most of the deficit is made up of natural mineral, Cheap energy, potash that actually fuels the US economy. He can view a deficit however he wants….but they simply aren’t subsidies.
- landros 2

I think “protect” is not the correct term. Unlike in the U.S., by law, all milk produced and sold in Canada is artificial growth hormone (rbST) free. Dairy products made using U.S. ingredients cannot be guaranteed to be rbST free, unlike those made with all Canadian milk ingredients.

It’s a question of quality more than protection.

I think most rational Americans can agree there’s issues with their food supply.

There's quite a lot of truth here. While you will meet a great many who claim to dislike Trudeau, most people voted for him and they will now just vote for the next lefty in Mark Carney. Adding Canada would be a democrats dream! And as you've said, adding another California.
And yes, Canada is "done for"...unless we start exploiting our rich resources...but Greta told Canadians "How DARE you"...and Canadians listened. Lol

- JLO961

Actually, you are quite mistaken. Trudeau only garnered 32% of the vote last time, even-though the Conservatives had more votes. Same happened the election before. The issue was the Liberals received more seats because their vote was spread evenly, while the Conservatives won by bigger margins in the West and Eastern Ontario. They strung together a coalition government with the Socialist New Democrats and the Separatists in Quebec.

On the 51st state talk, it wouldn't happen like that. After the War or 1812, during the first treaty of Paris, the American's would have allowed for Upper and Lower Canada to join the United States if they ever decided to do so. In today's language, that's Ontario and Quebec. That would be 2 states, not 1. In all probability, there would be 6 states, with British Columbia, the 3 Prairie Provinces as one state, the 4 Maritime Provinces as a State and the 3 Northern Territories make it 6.

The next thing to consider is the 1940 Ogdensburg Accord. This happened because the British Empire was at war with the Axis countries, but the American's had not yet entered World War 2. The Accord signed over to the American's, with the blessings from Great Britain, the stewardship of British North America. In other words, the United States guaranteed the sovereignty of Canada and would be the protector of North America. It's why we have Norad, the West coast missile defense system and a shared military defensive structure at Cheyenne Mountain's Nuclear facility. Canada is integrated with the U.S. in the protection of North America. It's why U.S. nuclear Submarines patrol the Arctic and the American Airforce base at Gander Newfoundland. What I'm saying, Canada can't be the 51st state, but could be the next 6, so it's a fallacy to believe that Canada would be one single state. For now, Canada has a vibrant culture, but as the old stock Canadians die off, the new Canada, with 3rd World Immigration may tilt that balance toward statehood in the future.

Ya…I beleive we now allow 3.5% in….before it was nothing. Interesting that pesky little things about ingredients…I wonder if the new health czar in the US, Kennedy, will start to look exactly at things like that.

"It truly sucks because some tough and ill-informed guys in Boston will boo your anthem when played in this tournament. They will boo as a retaliation for what happened in Montreal, because they won’t look beyond the surface."

I didn't hear one boo during the Canadian national anthem before the Finland game! So wrong again, EK!

- stevens87

Then you weren't listening....there were boos. Certainly not as loud as what was heard in Montreal.....not something I support...but there were boos.

The Trump administration apparently does not understand how a trade balance works. Nobody is taking advantage of anyone there.

And the Fentanyl? Only 0.2% of the fentanyl in the U.S. comes from Canada. In fact, the flow of illegal guns and drugs into Canada FROM the US has spiked in the last 2 years. How about you appoint your own border czar to clean this up?

No denying Canada needs to increase their military spending and NATO contributions, as do a number of other nations. America is right to call that out.....it needs to be remedied. Too many nations rely on the US to defend them....it is a burden that needs to be shared.

But this whole annexing Canada? Greenland? The Pamama Canal? The World's view of America will be forever changed, and while that might seem like a good thing to some people these days, I doubt history will view it that way.

I am Canadian.

I love Trump and wish I could have voted for him.

I have zero problem with what he's doing. I love it. I love seeing fellow Canadians triggered by nothing more than a negotiating tactic. He's not invading or taking us over.

Finally, I would appreciate an apology for the previous four years.

Thanks in advance.

Pretty much on point. However, HE views those deficits as a subsidies when you consider the tariffs imposed by Canada and benefits you gain by having us as your neighbor. People never mention Canada's substantial tariffs on US products. He blames our politicians more than yours. Both red and blue. That's what makes him unique. He knows they're all on the take.
- madmike71

People never mention them because they do not exist... We have a free trade agreement that imposes no tariffs on the vast majority of products. You might be thinking of China...

Globalist Trudeau’s ruination of Canada has caused the now elected non-globalist US leader to use this tariff/51st State stuff as a negotiation tactic to force Canada to clean up its borders, etc...

A lot of Canadians keep virtue signalling what their govt run media tells them

Get the facts

My message to my fellow Canadians:
It's how "Orange-man-bad" negotiates, he's a businessman not a politician and he's done nothing to any of you but your Liberal govt though has screwed you inside and out for a decade

That’s because US farmers have been told to just grow grow grow. Sometimes regulations are a good things for the public.

I don't want to be overly political with this.

I'm a veteran of the US Army, 2008 to 2014. My country sent me and my teenage friends to die in Iraq so that rich folks could get richer. And now we have elected the richest president in history.

America is cooked. As a veteran, I am embarrassed by the direction we are headed.

Nice anti American post like the rest of you snow flake liberal whiners. If you had any common sense you would know that a trump is looking for is 1) a closed or secure border which Canada was not providing hence the threat of tariffs and 2) Canada has more tariffs on US goods then the US has Canadian goods (fact). So Trump is once again being pro America by saying enough is enough. You want to tax us then we’ll tax you back. As for 51st state comments…that’s trump being trump and I’ll take a guy with a huge ego, that puts American first any day over Joe Biden or that Canadian PM who is running that country into the ground. But little cry baby Canadians can’t take a joke. Man the F up. Go be a writing for cricket.
