They need to resolve the goal tending logjam and get Murashov back in the AHL

^^ T H I S

All this talk about these *fantasy* trades and whether SILKY should be the coach is just talk. Right now the biggest thing on DUBAS' *to do list* is getting the best they can for Jarry.

Jarry is the elephant in the room. Buy him out, trade him, whatever… just get him out of the organEYEzation ASAP. His presence is helping nothing at all.

I do think Dubas has asked to see if Jarry had any trade value. I think Anaheim is someone who had low interest. I think it will be a contract for contract trade unless we retained. I do wonder if they hope he turns it around next season and boosts his trade value.

I agree that this is priority #1. I'm not sure what the cost to eat Jarry's contract would be but if we can continue to flip players for picks, we will have an abundance we can pay from.

Hear me out... Im not sure if I even like this but...

What if we trade Rackell & Blomqvist to Vancouver for Lekkermaki, Lankinen (cap) & Vancouvers 1st. Then we flip Vancouvers 1st & Jarry to San Jose for a 3rd rounder. Going into next season we get +$10M in cap space for a top line winger, Lekkermaki (a high end forward prospect) and a 3rd while we lose Rackell & Blomqvist.

I think Murashov is the guy and we need to have him playing in the AHL now and if he continues his insane results, the NHL next year. It is absolute GM malpractice that he is in the ECHL.

If the Canucks offered Lekkerimaki or Willander the Pens have to take it almost regardless of what else is included. They don't really have any right shot snipers unless you want to consider Tomasino having more upside.

those two are off the table... and Rakell couldn't command that kind of a return anyways tbh.

Nothing is off the table when Rutherford is running the show. Yes, I know, he's not the GM...but he's definitely wearing the pants.

Rackell would bring in at least a 1st & 3rd at the deadline. His contract is a huge value add with two years remaining after this one. Remember, not that long ago the Lightning were thought to be nuts to trade 2 1sts for Hagel, and that certainly worked out. But Im not saying Vancouver should, or would pay that much.

I don't think its likely that JR deals one of those two prospects as they are likely to be in the league in short order helping out... and he has had about 100 other fires to deal with.

If Rackell does go to VAN, it is likely another 3 team deal setup like the NYR one, with Boeser going out for prospects/picks (which would go to us). I do think Rackell would be a great pickup for Vancouver but maybe moreso for some other teams.

Oh I agree. Was responding to another post and threw in Willander as guys they'd have to take if offered, but I'm not expecting that much.

Rackell is in position to get overpaid for though due to the extreme sellers market, so I won't rule out completely getting that level of prospect from a desperate team because overpays happen this time of year.

In general I'd like to keep both and have them compete for it. Goalies can be strange with how they fall off. But that's just in a vacuum, you got other assets that are great if this happened.

I probably don't trade a first to clear salary. We're not at that level anymore. The future is Blomqvist now and Murashov hopefully soon. I'd rather eat the cap space for now than trade a high pick. At least they can fix the position. We can play a lot of young forwards and see who sticks the next couple years and save space that way.

My thought is partially this, along with Tojo's statement. A good cap hit with length, plus very good numbers will drive up his cost. Especially since we don't have to move him. Which is why I threw out a higher tier prospect into the mix. I can see Dubas wanting younger talent for someone we really don't have to move. Plus that would be the only way he could sell it to Sid on why he traded his top scoring winger in back to back seasons (if we landed something of significance). Plus we all know from experience when JR wants something he will over pay a bit (even if he isn't the GM).

Man that hit me hard last night when I read it. I remember sitting on my Grandpap's waterbed hearing "Lord Stanley Lord Stanley Give Me the Brandy!"

I was like 6 at the time -- Pens fan for life.

My Karlsson to Florida idea is picking up some steam... Sportsnet called it out as a possible destination (though a long shot).

PIT - Lundell, Knight & 2026 2nd.
FLA - Karlsson (1/2 ret), Ned & Glass

Florida gets cap space they need to re-sign Bennett & Ekblad, while improving the roster right now (they could really use Karlsson to push offence from the back end). I don't know if Florida would actually give up Lundell, but if they are looking only to maximize their cup odds the next 3 years they could.

Pens get Lundell who can be a 2C for us and in the offseason we can choose to buy out Knight for like $900k for 2 years and save some serious cap space. We also get a 2nd just because.
