The USA brought it politics into in the first place. Now they can answer for it. My opinion on what he says is beside the point. They made it political. Try to keep up!

Well actually we kinda did by booing their anthem in Montreal.

Thanks

Exactly. He has had little to do with Canada or Canadian hockey for many many years. He's clearly chosen to associate himself with the USA. Doesn't make sense as a Canadian "ambassador" anymore.

I play from whatever is between 5900-6300

if you're referring to the music, lock me up for life in alcatraz for that take if you have to, music has no place on the golf course (unless it's summer breeze on endless repeat)

I would privately like him less, but would not be advocating on a hockey site for him to be canceled

Everyone is entitled to their opinions and beliefs

- mr.sir

I think "advocating" is probably a little strong from the comments section of an anonymous and barely working hockey site.

You don't like it b/c you don't agree with it. If we scroll back in time I'm pretty sure you've commented supportively on some of Uggies political opinions.

Let everybody talk ...debate what you want ....ignore what you want ....it sounds hypocritical to pick your spots to say "no politics".

That said ...we can all agree that Brady Tkachuk looked really (frank)ing good on 34's wing and he needs to push his way out of Ottawa down the 401 into our ever-welcoming hands.

Your ignoring results due to your feelings on this. Goaltending was why they won so I'm not sure how you can say it was our weakest spot but its' your opinion so have at it.

To me the guy who won a cup, and this tourney is a 'tier up' from Helly.

Let me put it this way - Helly is what we all hate that the Leafs have been too often. Regular season top tier and then once playoffs come.....well you know the rest.

You & I both never wanted the Leafs to go after those goalies but there were many in here who were really passionate about wanting to do so, hell some even still say it. lol

- Cush29

Oh ffs. I see you just wanna argue? Lol :šŸ˜œ
Just kidding.
I have no "feelings" on this, im not dumping on bennie or mentioning anything new...it was a fact that goaltending was our biggest question mark.....ok so replace "weakest spot" in my former post with our "biggest unknown/concern".
Weakest was maybe incorrect to use.
Yes he won a cup, but if you were to rate current goalies, i dont feel like bennie would be top 10, whereas helly would.
Just saying i had worries about all our tenders, but as i previously stated, bennie stepped up in both OT's. I was not on board with switching bennie for hill (there's a joke or smartass comment in there somewhere to be made).
Again not dumping on bennie....he just doesn't provide 100% confidence yet which can change over the next 12 months. But he played great in the final for sure.

I disagree with this. If you're a poop golfer playing from the tips and you're always prepared to take your next shot and keep pace, go for it.

I think it'd be warranted for music on the course though.

- TheMussel

But seriously, though, it's a great time.

6200-6300 is my sweet spot. I'm OK with accuracy, but my distance is pathetic.

Golf is hard when you take it up in your 20s, only play 2-4 rounds for 20 years, not play at all for 10 years, then start taking it seriously in your 50s.

I have no idea why people feel the need to play crappy music when golfing or hiking.

And I'm even more baffled that golf courses allow it. I belong to a private club where the course marshal will literally stop you in the middle of your round to force you to tuck in your shirt. But blaring poopy country music is A-OK.

Thereā€™s always a political component of international sports. There are lots of examples: Canada-Russia summit, the Miracle on Ice, India-Pakistan cricket, the support all kinds of Ukrainian athletes got after the invasion. Given how politically charged Canada-US relations are right now, I would have been shocked if there was no booing.

Have to agree with this. Or any public place really. Keep your poop music to yourself.

We were at the Grand Canyon a few years back and there was a group of 6 (3 couples) that were taking forever doing stupid yoga poses for pics and playing awful electronic rave music on a speaker. Everyone was shaking their heads. I spoke up. Asked them to turn it off as everyone was just trying to enjoy the nature. They started mouthing back. But then the crowd all started clapping and telling them to turn it off. They got all pissed off and turned it off and walked away. (frank) people like that. Put them away and throw away the keys.

I bet playing with McDavid was a treat for Point. He's had some elite linemates at different times, but never anyone on McDavid's level. Hagel and Cirelli had some good shifts at times, but mostly disappeared amongst the truly elite players on the ice. But, neither made any glaring mistakes and Cooper's gamble paid off, so, I guess the results justify the picks. Ditto for Binnington. Everyone wanted him yanked, but he stood tall when he was needed the most.

Despite the win, I still think Canada needs to reinvigorate it's program for goalies, because it certainly didn't look great on paper prior to the tourney.

Gretzky is gonna be just fine. No one's saying he shouldn't be in gambling ads and working on TV. That's up to those companies.

I do hope hockey Canada picks someone else if there is such an honorary position or ceremonial puck drop next time around. My persondal 99 fandom is on ice until such time as he disavows Trump's entire shtick on Canada (and Ukraine and Greenland and Panama and Gaza) and reaffirms Canadian independence and sovereignty. Until then he can eat a Richard.

I appreciate your ability to have a respectful discussion on the topic, without insulting anyone who sees things differently

We all have valid reasons for the political affiliations we choose, such as life experiences, our upbringing etc.

As I stated earlier, everyone is entitled to their opinions and beliefs

I agree with some things Jewelsie says, wedgie says, lawsie says and others say

Objectivity is becoming increasingly rare

No politics was pushed hard by our previous mods and CoC, but now that it is not enforcedā€¦ I occasionally feel the need to step in and stop the bullying that I see on this site. I bite my tongue more often than replying though šŸ˜‚

The term cancelled is so overused that itā€™s become pretty much meaningless. Gretzky like anybody else is free to take whatever political positions he wants and weā€™re free to think less of him for those positions. Thatā€™s accountability, not canceling.

And no Tkachuk will ever ā€œlook goodā€.

Yes. Yes please. Leave the boomboxes at home when hiking, camping, kayaking, and while trying to enjoy nature and the wilderness. I'm not out there to listen to music, good or bad, I don't care. Thankfully, the places I go fossil hunting are pretty remote and aren't popular with tourists. I rarely see people out there and I can hear them coming from a mile away when they do.

If Gretzky went around saying pro democrat things, none of you would complain

If he went around saying common sense republican things...no one would care.
