Does that include Brian Mulroney? - Atomic Wedgie
Maybe.. But I more mean performers who just decide for a specific performance.
Also just read through the last 5 pages or so of gutter trash people are spewing.
Some people like Trump some don't.. You are not going to change anybodies mind here but everyone is shouting to get a point across to somebody who either won't or isn't interested in change.
Sport has always had a political slant...Depending on the sport.. The big bad commie Russia in the 60's - 80's for a number of sports.. East/West Germany... Athletes being disqualified for not participating in a completion because they are from Israel.
The current climate is charged because Trump made an crazy remark and people/media went and turned it into a massive event.
so back to Hockey, I am predicting a significant Leaf trade by Monday.
Hopefully Noah Dobson or Jared McCann...or both some how.
Send out Minten and Cowan I think both are at their highest value right now. |

so it turns out there's a non-zero chance he's a rapist. I had never heard of it before but learned about it this past week. - BINGO!
What the hell are you talking about and why bring it up if it's nothing that should be considered likely?

And you’re still very wrong. Helly is a much better goalie than Binnington. But it’s a team game. Sometimes goalies can steal games, sometimes their team in front of them fails them.
I guarantee you 32 GM’s in the NHL would pick Helly over Binnington. Without any hesitation. - TurdFergeson
Cool thanks for enlightening me to the fact I am 'very wrong' & you 100% know what 32 GM's think.
Makes perfect sense, especially considering all the deep playoff runs Helly has led his team to and all incredible cup finals performances by Helly.

I thought the story was he was allegedly in the room while Dan Quinn raped a woman?
I should add that charges were never filed - for Quinn or Lemieux. - Atomic Wedgie
Right. It was the Quinn thing initially that I had never heard of.
https://law.justia.com/ca...rt/1994/c5-92-2526-2.html
DA refused to press charges.
It's a little alarming how many people around Lemieux have had incidents though.
In 2000, while Lemieux owned the team, the Penguins signed Billy Tibbetts, who was convicted of raping an unconscious 15-year-old girl when he was 17 years old.[74] When asked about the signing, Lemieux said: "I think that’s a great story. That kid faced so much adversity, did his time, came back after three and a half years. To find himself in the NHL is a great accomplishment.
In 2021, Lemieux, Penguins assistant general manager Bill Guerin, and the Penguins were sued by Erin Skalde, the ex-wife of former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (WBS Penguins) coach Jack Skalde. Erin Skalde alleged that they attempted to cover up her being sexually assaulted by former WBS Penguins coach John Donatelli.[75] Jack Skalde alleged that he was fired after complaining to the team, which he said was a violation of whistleblower laws.[75]

Is this something new or the old Dan Quinn allegation that he was in the room at the time? - TurdFergeson
Not commenting on this particular case as I'm unfamiliar, but what TF is up with guys being in rooms while other guys are r@ping a girl?!?! That's (frank)ed up. Are that many dudes really that big of scumbags?!?!

I mean, does anyone really think they're being serious?!? They're trolling. In a lot of ways, this is not a serious administration, which is why they're the butt of many jokes and rightfully so.
But they're also doing a lot of things that a lot of people agree with.

I'm gonna have to go with the Turd on this one.
Hellbuyck remains the better goaltender, no doubt in my mind. His positioning and technique are at an elite level while Bennington, while likely more athletic, is all over the place and relies way more on his reflexes.
That doesn't take away anything from the extremely clutch performance from Binnington though. He came up big at the most important of times. - Scabeh
I guess Hasek was terrible too then?
Fairly sure the wins and losses are based on how many pucks get by the goalie and not how they look when making saves no?
If /when this technically elite goalie has playoff success vs choking then I'll subscribe to the notion he is better than a guy like Binner. Until then I will always feel the goalie who got his team the wins is the better goalie - results matter more to me.
Like I said Helly is the goalie version of the Leafs when it comes to the regular season vs playoffs last few years.
Helly is amongst the best in many categories as they pointed out last night including high danger chances, slot chances etc. but they also pointed out his Achilles heel - rebound control.
He is 25th in the league in that category. That is an indication that he is not technically sound often enough & in fact would mean he's out of position often and / or has incorrect save selection/technique.
This debate could go on and on I suppose but like I said results matter to me more than the 'look' when it comes to goaltending.

He is serious though. He wants to bully us into getting all of our resources. Just like he’s trying to bully Ukraine into a bunch of their resources. Which is also why he really wants Greenland. It’s all about securing natural resources. |

EF saying he has heard Canes may move Rantanen 50% retained. Mentions Leafs among 6-7 teams.

I still think an extension gets done, but with Canes management primarily focused on next season anyway it sure would be something.

Oh ffs. I see you just wanna argue? Lol :😜
Just kidding.
I have no "feelings" on this, im not dumping on bennie or mentioning anything new...it was a fact that goaltending was our biggest question mark.....ok so replace "weakest spot" in my former post with our "biggest unknown/concern".
Weakest was maybe incorrect to use.
Yes he won a cup, but if you were to rate current goalies, i dont feel like bennie would be top 10, whereas helly would.
Just saying i had worries about all our tenders, but as i previously stated, bennie stepped up in both OT's. I was not on board with switching bennie for hill (there's a joke or smartass comment in there somewhere to be made).
Again not dumping on bennie....he just doesn't provide 100% confidence yet which can change over the next 12 months. But he played great in the final for sure. - Fakepartofme
I also feel like Binner's stock has risen after this performance if your rating NHL goalies and maybe a guy like Saros has seen his drop. It's a short tourney, a bit of a 'now' snapshot so who knows what it means in a few months but at this moment in time, IMO Binner > Helly.
A week from now maybe not who knows!

I appreciate your ability to have a respectful discussion on the topic, without insulting anyone who sees things differently
We all have valid reasons for the political affiliations we choose, such as life experiences, our upbringing etc.
As I stated earlier, everyone is entitled to their opinions and beliefs
I agree with some things Jewelsie says, wedgie says, lawsie says and others say
Objectivity is becoming increasingly rare
No politics was pushed hard by our previous mods and CoC, but now that it is not enforced… I occasionally feel the need to step in and stop the bullying that I see on this site. I bite my tongue more often than replying though 😂 - mr.sir
Let's hope it goes back to it being enforced.

I think they would get back more value than the package they sent to COL.
But it wouldn't help them in the short term.
Not sure what a package looks like from the Leafs but I would love it. A win now move and a great business decision to gain back negotiating power. |

Maybe, but the prices on rentals haven't exactly been good of late.
I do wonder about a potential sign and trade for Petterson or something though, since the Canes have been sniffing around him for years. |
