So……
Tavares at 3 x 7m
or
Bennett at 6 x 8m - mr.sir
Bennett will have a shorter career. I think his best years are probably near the end. Like Clark or Tucker. |

Bennett 6 x 8m.
But the Toronto deal would be 7 x 9m |

Trade vladdy now.
Not worth $50m per over 14 years. |

He likely was asking for far too much, but the Jays clearly have trouble attracting big names and there is nobody of his potential in the pipeline. You gotta make a splash somehow. |

Nah, đź’™ the Jays
It’s tough when someone like Bobby Witt signs for 11yrs/288m, who is a top 5 player and plays a more important position
That Soto deal messed up things financially
Ohtani was fine, since he also pitches
Will be interesting to see how things play out with Vlad and Bo |

I'm with Fake on this one.
I'd rather pay Bennett 6 x 8M (or 9 as Fake pointed out he likely gets more to play in Toronto) for ages 29, 30, 31,32,33 and 34
vs
Paying JT 7M / year at ages 35, 36 and 37.
And I love JT.

We are going to be very disappointed with Bennett at that price.
When we get a chance to hyperfocus on all his flaws we will find out fast how bad the contract is. |

You take away Matthews' questionable decision to try and take away the passing lane instead of just taking the man which led to the loss and look at his game overall - I've never really looked at his game from the perspective of the opposition before and he is a very scary player. He had the game on his stick a number of times yesterday and I think if he were healthier, he cashes in on a couple of those chances. Like when he was on the ice, shots were 14-4 in favour of the US and HD chances were 5-0. He was phenomenal and terrifying. - Monkeypunk
I was shocked that not one D man tried to stop Makar's pass around the end to Mitchy.
Cale said once Mitch stopped the pass, he knew it was game over. |

Ehh... anyone signing in the 7-8M range is flawed and will be hyperfocussed on.
I'm more interested in: would Bennett be a better fit than an aging Snake? Or, other players in that range.
Say what you want about Sam, but he has proven himself to be a clutch performer and he's a top notch agitator. His durability is a question mark though.
Dude made Team Canada for a reason. |

It seemed like the whole US team had a sleepy moment, including the goalie. No pressure on Marner or McDavid, and the goalie didn’t react to the pass at all. |

According to Makar, the key was that the American D let his pass get around the back of the net to Marner. He said that once the puck got to Mitch he knew the game was over. |

Have the team doctors shut down Matty until the playoffs. Move his caphit to LTIR while he sits on Kucherov Island. Use the newly-found cap space to bring in an impactful free agent rental or two.
This team can win without him and it would take an epic collapse to completely miss the playoffs. At worst they fall to 3rd or a wildcard spot and then come roaring back with a healthy Papi and a gazillion dollar payroll of mercenary guns to make a run.
Make it so. Plan the parade.

Move to Russia then.
Or even America.
What are you doing here if you hate it so much?
I suggest Russia. I think you’ll like it there, I really to. You can find some cheap property outside of Magnitogorsk. - Arctic_AARDVARK
I would recommend Orenburg. Winter is really cold, but there isn't a ton of snow and the summers are beautiful. |

Well, more good news, the season is resuming and a bunch of rival players are banged up. Tka(up)chuk, McAvoy, that other guy, lol.
Boston should really struggle with McAvoy out. Their defense is already a shadow of what it once was. Gimpy old Marchand looked pretty good in the tourney, but he's clearly in the twilight of his career. Beantown has some dark days and soul searching ahead.
