Anyone else see the news Al Trautwig passed away? Was always curious what happened to him once he left the rangers suddenly

yeah i saw alan hahn tweet it out.

that really sucks, it was always a mystery and we only got spotty health updates once he did leave. i DM'd his kid on twitter years ago and he said he was doing well after stepping away.

I just heard a few minutes ago. I to am curious as to what happened to him. A stroke perhaps or something back a few years ago? It was so odd to see him as if he aged 20 years that offseason. His voice was jittery and slurry. Makes me sad, to be honest. Sam, JD, and Al were the best back in the day.

Yea it sucks to hear the news. Glad he was well though when he stepped away after the rangers. Hopefully got to enjoy that time with his family

If they get in there's no one here who won't want them to win, but we're allowed to be realistic about A) their chances of even making it to the playoffs, which are slim and B) their ability to do anything other than humiliate themselves if they do somehow make it

we are also allowed to want them to sell and position themselves better for the future. you can hang out with TJ in la la land and yell at clouds with him if you want

that was the rumor but we never got anything official from him, the family or MSG. not that we're entitled to it of course.

...and this is where I, and you and a few others, believe trying to make the playoffs is pointless. We would be donating the 15th pick in the draft to Vancouver, then assuming they retool in the offseason and do better, end up with a late 1st rounder in 2026.

OR... we sell off everything we can, start fresh... keep the parts we want to build around, get ourselves a top 10 pick this year then the Nucks end up with a late 1st rounder in 2026.

Zib, Kreider, Smith, Lindgren, Miller, maybe Schneider depending on the deal, maybe LAF if they can find a partner and a legit return.

This is where I want the team to start from going into next year...

Cuylle, Miller, Perreault (although unlikely but he would be in a good place here)

Hes in the final year of his NMC this year, a NTC kicks in July 1st. So ultimately it will be Zadorov's decision on where he wants to go.

Rangers desperately need a homegrown player to become a star. Laf looked like a lock but what a dud of a season he’s had. Kreider, Stepan, Cally, JT about as close as they’ve come but other than JT in Van, still not stars. Cuylle could fit into that same category, which is great but still need more. It’s almost impossible how many swings and misses they’ve had without hitting on one.

Zadorov is overpaid? 5m per with the way the salary cap is going is nothing, especially if it preserves and protects Fox.

Provorov, yea he will get paid as a result of the cap going up. Soucy, I just threw that out there cause hes a giant.
