I do because I am Gen X. He wasn’t great but he made some trades that brought in some pieces that combined with the Cliff Fletcher bug trade with Calgary set the Leafs up nicely.

He brought in Rouse and Zezel, Foligno, Elliot. That eking said he did make one of the worst trades in Leaf history when he traded that 1st round pick for Tom Kurvers that New Jersey used to pick up some schlub named Niedermayer. 😳😭🤮

He was the worst they have ever had IMO. SO so bad.

1960s Imlach was great. 1980 Imlach was a goddamned disaster.

1988-89 Stellick was not good - he traded Courtnall for Kordic, seemed to redeem himself by trading Wregget for two 1sts but then blew those on Pearson and Bancroft.

Floyd Smith traded a #3 (Niedermayer) for Kurvers, who was traded for Bradley - who the Leafs left unprotected in the 1992 expansion draft. Smith was also the architect of trading away Iafrate and Eddie Olcyk.

As much as I loved the man, Pat Quinn was definitely not a great GM - trading Modin for Cross, trading a 2nd to sign Khristich only to have him suck and dump him for a 3rd, trading Mair and a 2nd (Cammalleri) for Aki Berg, trading away Yushkevich for Svehla . . .he did get Tucker for Johnson and McCabe for Karpovtsev. But he signed Joseph and Mogilny and Roberts, so he was great at Free Agency, just not so great at trades.

Dubas probably finds his way onto the list of the worst side of the GMs for sure, but we have so many guys you can stick pins in that it's hard to isolate him - but he made his own bed by overpaying the guys and leaving himself too little room to maneuver as a start. After that it was trying to solve those problems with bargain bin solutions.

Thinking back on this . . .I mean I know he was disassembling the team but I don't think McNamara won a trade. Like he dumped Turnbull, Sittler, Paiement, Vaive, Derlago, Stumpy Thomas and I think the return on all of those guys was bad.
