Either way we move on from Husso, who nobody thought was movable! Does that mean there is hope that we could move one of Holl, Gustafson, Comphere or Tarasenko before next season? Maybe even a couple of those guys.
As much I hate Gudas he would be perfect for us!

"The Red Wings are in an intriguing spot. Cam Talbot has been serviceable, and they have promising prospects in Sebastian Cossa and Trey Augustine. But if they’re serious about taking the next step with their young core, acquiring a proven star like Demko could be the catalyst."

The Canes and CBJ are heavy on Demko, with the Oil and the Flyers also inquiring.

The Ducks have also announced that Husso will report to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Diego Gulls.
Husso played in 13 games with the Griffins before this trade, where he had an 8-4-0 record, a .912 save percentage, and a 2.70 goals-against average. Overall, he has been solid at the AHL level this season, and he will look to maintain this kind of play with the Gulls from here.

I'm definitely stoked that Husso is out of the organization... but I do wish him well. It was a glut of goalies in GR. Campbell will now be the official backup for Cossa. Nice that we dumped that contract. Just gotta get Danielson scoring again in GR. Lombardi and Mazur are healthy again... hope it stays that way. Griffins have definitely missed Soderblom.

As far as trades go... the only player I like in terms of rumors is Cozens... I just don't think Buffalo is a good fit for a trade partner. Yzerman isn't going to trade our top prospects and mortgage the future... especially our top defense prospects... that would be nuts. The Wings will be very deep on defense once Tuomisto, Wallinder, and Buium crack the lineup in Detroit. Heck... I'd be happy for a call-up... Let Holl or Gustaffson sit on the bench for a few games. Wallinder and Tuomisto both have developed as well as we could have hoped.

A lot of possibilities now that they have almost $11M in cap space. I am leary of Cozens, he is not worth his cap hit right now.

I was curious if maybe you guys would be going after Elias Petterson?

That was on one of the click bait sites. Wings need a good C, but Petey is struggling and has too much salary. I would rather settle with Crosby.

There are some odd rumored options. Lafreniere is being floated. Kakko was already moved a while back. NYR had multiple names in the mill. Will be an interesting watch!

Was he just (rumored) offered 10m plus? That’s the last I’ve heard. Trying hard to

Husso had negative value. It would have probably taken a 3rd or 2nd round pick attached to get rid of him.

He went for Future considerations though. So it’s the Ducks that must have asked for him and his 5M$ salary. Two reasons : there’s a goalie on his way out and/or a player with a big salary on his way out (cap floor).

Either way, the Wings are probably up to nothing. The Ducks are probably the ones up to something big.

The FC's could be some salary retention from Detroit as well, reported by Lyle Richardson....but he noted that Puckpedia did not report any salary retention. So I wonder if something else is brewing with the Wings and Ducks.

I have a little different take on this. There was absolutely no reason whatsoever for Anaheim to take on Husso's contract. They don't benefit in any way from this trade, other than potentially bolstering their AHL team's playoff hopes, but AHL teams don't trade for goalies as expensive as this.

The deal is future considerations, but it's Detroit who owes the Ducks, and because of Verbeek & Yzerman's relationship, they'll get it. The future considerations is only there because there must be consideration by league rule. I think Detroit is working another deal either directly with the Ducks, or as part of a 3 team deal. Would the Wings want Zegras? He's a risk. He's either going to be a star in this league, or a bust, with no in between. The Ducks don't need him. They have McTavish, Carlsson, and Gauthier as their top 3 Cs and all are on ELC, so it makes sense that they trade Zegras. The question is, what does Detroit have to offer that the Ducks need. They need D, and we don't have a lot to spare, so I suspect the Wings are going to be a partner with another team that wants Z and has something to offer the Ducks that they want/need. At the same time, the Ducks don't need a partner because they have tons of cap space, so in reality, I have no idea.

I saw the quote saying it was 9 figures, but then followed up saying he’ll be above 10 million. He’d have to average 12.25 over 8 seasons to hit that 100m mark but maybe that’s what’s on the table. No clue but when they clarified with 10+m it made me think either term or a typo on that end. We’ll see

There is absolutely a very good reason for the Ducks to take on Husso’s contract. If they trade Gibson without taking back significant salary, they’re not only a G short, but they also fall below the cap floor.

Even if it’s not Gibson, if they trade any of Zegras, Strome, Killorn or Trouba without taking back significant salary, they’re below the floor.

Saw a funny quote from one of our fellow Red Wings fans regarding the Ducks taking Husso:

"Seems like an appropriate punishment for the Zegras hit. I consider the matter now closed."

Ok, that’s Monty Python funny. My step dad, if he wasn’t a fan of what was being presented at supper he would say, “Lord, for what we are about to receive, may we have an explanation.” No one was safe. Not even my Mac and cheese attempts!

Ducks are now almost $7M above the floor with Husso's cap hit. They can trade any one on there roster w/o retaining excect Troy Terry and Trouba and still be above the floor now.
