I would have thought the odds would be higher, like at least 60 percent since they are only 2 points out of a playoff spot. I wonder how they came up with that number? Is it the opponents they have to play the rest of the schedule?

Maybe they watched them play two conference dwellers in Buffalo and Pitt and thought this team is cooked

Not sure if it was brought up in the last blog but looks like Strickland mentioned Brady could be on the move so maybe there was fire where there was smoke with Brooks's comments of rangers trading for him

I don’t know the formula/methodology. It has Leafs, Panthers, Lightning, Capitals, Hurricanes, and Devils as near locks (Devils at 98% but the others over 99%). For the wild card teams:

Red wings - 64%
Senators - 43%
Rangers - 33%
Islanders - 24%
Flyers - 12%
All others 10% or less

As an avid fan, I empathize with Ranger fans who are heavily vested.

Sending out Barclay Goodrow has to be one of the top tone deaf hockey moves in the past number of years. Your team needed more Barclay Goodrow types, not less.

While financially, sending Trouba out made some cap sense, clearly the drama leading up to it and as evidenced by results since, the move has backfired.

It is hard to argue against the fact that he may have been the glue, that key element that gave the team its edge and confidence. Promising young players do not look the same since he has left.

Anyhow, honestly not trolling or trying to rile people up. Just as a hockey fan, I am can not believe the front office blew up its own group.

There comes a time where you just need to count your poor decisions, and also that of your predecessor.

Goodrow was good for what he is...a 4th line energy player. His $3.6M cap hit was for him to be a 3rd line guy, but that never happened. Not paying that $$$ for a 4th liner. He was replaced by Carrick at better than a third of the cost and an improvement at 4th line center.

Trouba's contract was not a great one from the beginning of it being signed. IT only got worse as it went along. He was a fair defender, but his leadership was "meh". This season, his leadership was non-existent, and he even admits to it. He wanted to be here, but for family reasons, not hockey related. He and his horrid cap hit had to go in order to resign others and to bring in a fresh atmosphere...

Problem is, nobody opened a window to let in a new atmosphere and all the bad air is still in the room.

Goodrow averages .28 ppg in the regular season and .25 ppg in the playoffs. This idea that he's supposed to be a playoff guy that sucks poop in the regular season is silly. He's literally the worst forward in the league this season and if dumping him fractured the locker room to the point that they can't play hockey they were doomed anyway.

I can envision a world in which the Trouba stuff did some damage, but at the end of the day they are professional hockey players who don't have an excuse for the level of hockey they have been playing.

drury is bad but getting rid of goody and trouba were the right moves. The way he did it was not ideal. He has been bad at the tdls and his first offseason summer

Ha-ha! I would get Lou hanging around if he never won a Cup and the Islanders were close. Neil Smith wanted to give DP only 5 years. Neil did not need that committee and should have been left alone to run things.
