That's fair, and as Flyers fans we have seen almost all GMs for our organization draft truly elite players fail. Arguably the GM with the best results was Homer drafting Carter and Richards. Clarke drafted Giroux. Maybe Briere bucks that trend, but it is certainly understandable to have doubts. In addition, a GM could trade players in the organization for other players. We'll see if Briere starts going down that route more often. - Trox88
Who knows, but what i can say is jett is look8ng better then what's projected.
And let's say he turns in a 2nd line center, not terrible pick, but what if he turns into a first line center, then we in business

I agree, but my basic point is being concerned that Briere seems to be falling into the trap almost all of his prospects and players under the age of 25 are keepers. Sure, Farabee and Frost were moved. However, the belief that a GM who has been fired for job performance (Fletcher), his strength was actually drafting so the next GM needs to basically keep all of his draft picks seems suspect. Also, all of Briere's high draft picks outside of Gauthier have all been labeled pretty much untouchable because they are the future foundation. Let's face it, if Gauthier signed without incident, he would be labeled as the solution to the LW issue. Briere is going to have to take a risk and trade a young player to try and get a player who is potentially better. Not all of the current young players in the organization are going to be difference makers. Only a handful will make it. Trading Farabee and Frost is not enough.

When was the last time the flyers made a prospect for prospect trade? Cutter don’t count.
How about a prospect for youngish nhl player? |

Out of necessity again, ironically the Richards trades to LA and Carter to CLB. The Flyers do not have much of a track record of moving young assets for other young assets unless there is unusual circumstances. Sbisa was traded for Pronger-does not count obviously. JVR for Schenn probably the best example. |

I think I would like to see Laughton and or Risto traded for prospects over draft picks. Especially since it is most likely the teams they are trading with will be high finishing playoff teams who will at best be offering late in the round draft picks.

Flyers have enough picks. That’s sound logic.
Wonder how many prospects they have headed for LHV next season? Hope they also cut bait with the fading prospect types.

I would imagine Bonk, Barkey for sure.
Noah Powell, Matteo Mann, Owen McLaughlin, Knuble, and Bump are all old enough. Some from college so the AHL age restriction isn't in play IIRC.
But I would imagine Bonk, Barkey are shoe ins. I don't know if those college players will choose to remain one more year or come to Lehigh.

Bump will leave imo. Flyers been talking him up a tad. Owen and Powell needs to stay. No idea on Knuble.
Mann is a stiff.

Seems like a lot of teams are looking for goalie depth for playoffs or possible 1B if someone struggles. Curious of everyone's thoughts but if someone offered the Flyers a 2026 2nd rounder and 2025 4th rounder for Ersson, would you want Flyers to take it? |

Yes -- but they won't - if they win Thursday they will be all in gunning for a playoff spot |

If you do you will then need to find 2 nhl level goalies next year.
Wouldn’t have a problem keeping or moving.

The coach loves Risto and says he is the team’s most improved player during his tenure. Also his contract is good.
Coach has a ton of input and is asked daily by coGM on moves made/potential deals. |

He determines who stays and goes at the NHL level.
Improving from one of the worst in the league (statistically/ analytically speaking) is pat your back worthy. They zapped all the offense out of his game. |

That is all there is as far as Philly is concerned. Didn't place in any other category negative or positive. |

The rest of the league is radio silent on Risto because as others have said, they’ve killed his offensive game completely.
Flyers still haven’t gotten the memo that a D man at 5.1/year no matter what side he plays better be able to play both sides of the puck.
Behind the curve yet again. |

I do not understand how there is no interest in the flyers best defenseman. Something is going on. Maybe all the teams have trade apps now and the apps talk to each other using AI?
I mean the flyers are the gold standard of the league - there must be massive interest in all their players |
