If the Flyers get a first for Risto without taking back a terrible salary I will be stunned. |

Watch today's presser with Torts, he made it clear on his views of the team, the deadline, free agency and the future of the team, and of course, the Flyer's best defenseman Risto. |

Flyers won’t do anything that moves the needle one way of the other. They won’t trade Risto or Laughton. The Flyers have become one of the most insignificant franchises in the league and that is sad.
One would think with a new arena on the horizon they’d wanna grab a couple top 5 picks and start selling tickets to see elite players. Unfortunately it’s the same ol same ol. |

That's actually a good plan. The only glitch would be how to acquire those top 5 picks without an outright tank or by throwing Michkov in one of the the deals. |

Every GM is open for business and taking/making calls. This isn’t some phenomenon exclusive to the Flyers. Amazes me how you pump up Briere to be this best GM in the world for doing his job.
If they move Laughton for a 2nd would be typical. Missed the boat on a 1st at prior point in time.
Risto will be 31. There is no more progress to be made. They play a dumbed down defensive structure that makes him look ok. Thats fine. Other smart Gm’s will see that and unless they play similar styles, he will look like prior years Risto. What cup contending teams would view him as a top 4 diff maker? Now that being said there is always one dummy out there who may give up a 1st. I do not see it. His zero games playoff experience doesn’t help.
Goes back to the potential Laughton trade if Risto is kept. Day late and a dollar short. Which has always been the story of the flyers life.
Couturier has not had a really great bounce back season. He needs to be moved to the wing at some very soon point.
Can the Flyers still get a 1st for Hathaway, as that’s what you stated prior.
Seeler is not a bargain He is overpaid in money and term for a strictly bottom pair dman. Imagine having to be overwhelmed when it comes to trading Nick Seeler. No team is overwhelming you for Nick Seller.
I would move every single player you mentioned and not think twice. Caveat being couturier as would need to see what any potential deal looked like 1st. How about Couturier and Oilers/Avs 1st for that Petterson guy in Vancouver as a base trade. Wha your sources say on that one?
I also wonder that if the do trade Risto and Laughton is that a sign Torts may not be back?
Hopefully I do not get banned for my post.

Unfortunately, the Flyers employed that one dummy, and now he's not employed by anybody. |

He asked “who’s trading Risto” and then said “his contract is favorable to the flyers”… paraphrasing here but that was basically what he said.
IMO I see them making no moves. They are pricing themselves out of The Room and Risto appears to be too valuable.

No further moves, Flyers go hard after Ekblad in the off-season as others have mentioned in previous blog comments, trading for his rights before 7/1 so they can try to throw 8 years at him. |

Risto now being a steal for the Flyers , given he is their best defenseman, just proves even a blind squirrel (Fletcher) can find a nut. Torts and Shaw deserves a lot of credit for his improvement. Great coaching here. |

This whole thing is on Danny. He needs to make these moves to reshape this team. Torts is a lame duck coach. Kind of a main reason I think you have to move on from Risto. Who knows if he regresses with different coaching or not.
The pressure is on Danny to build a winner and he needs to make tough moves, no matter what Torts thinks.

I am open to trading anyone on the team not named Michkov. With that said I don’t think Briere wants picks at this point. They want young players with high ceilings in key positions, i.e center and defense. Briere wants to build a young core around Michkov and doesn’t want to wait to develop teenagers from scratch. Without picking in the top 5 the only way to do this is trades, so I see the Flyers potentially using their 1st round picks this year as trade chips. |

To give him 8 years, they need to own his rights on the day after the TDL.

Is tk on his annual downward drop he seems to have each year, and then he gets injured for a few.
TK has 4 points in his last 8 games, and 8 points in his last 12 games. That is a big dropoff from being above PPG average all year. At the start of the season he had 13 points in his first 12 games, so now he is only producing about 62% of that.
It's concerning because he seems to have a point dip like this every year lately . |

It happens to the whole team because they simply cant sustain the level of compete for 82 games. Even though TK didnt play much in the 4 nations, I still think he could have used the mental and physical break.
