Would you rather be out of it for 5 years and win a Cup, or sniff it year after year and never get it?
- aecliptic

It’s also a little comical to me because the same people on here complaining about bringing in top end talent to compliment the youth we have are the same ones complaining that we can never develop prospects properly but want a “proper rebuild”.

But again you make it sound like you’re guaranteed a cup after a 5 year rebuild. lol
- Awolff9

Well, if you dont take the time to have a proper rebuild, how do you know what the result will be?

What you're saying is you'd rather not because its easier to stomach.

I think you’re looking more at the back of the hockey card more than anything else if you look at it from this perspective. At this point it’s not whether or not if we are better at this current time but the question you need to be asking yourself is are we set up better going forward? I think the overwhelming answer is yes. We got rid of some horrendous contracts and got value for players that we aren’t going to retain after this season. Also gives much more opportunity to give our young kids a chance to see what they can do. Also gives us more flexibility in the offseason to bring in the right pieces. This season is a wash and the sooner everyone comes that conclusion the better off you will be. It was a down season and it happens but we really have a great opportunity to go into next season refreshed and reloaded. I have faith in Drury that he has a solid plan.

I took it as him just asking the question for conversation sake, not proclaiming we’re worse off. Your points are spot on though, these moves are about youth and setting the stage for what comes next.

Why do you insist on dictating his opinion?

What top end talent have I said we should go for? Lawson Crouse? Andrew Copp? Kiefer Sherwood? Calle Jarnkrok? Colton Sissons? Provorov... Zadorov...?

#NYR  lines this morning look like:

Panarin - Trocheck - Laf
Cuylle - JT - Zib
Othmann - Parssinen - Brodz
Berard - Carrick - Rempe

Miller - Borgen
Urho - Schneider
Jones - de Haan

And of course Lavi can’t get Berard in a top 9 role. Has to play him 5 minutes tonight first

Negative people? The second you show up, you start inciting a divisive rhetoric. Im just talking with the guy, here you come trying to start something that isnt there.

Molliie Walker notes from Rangers morning skate in Tarrytown:

- Reilly Smith will not play tonight vs. Predators for roster management purposes, indicating a trade is likely on the horizon.
- Chris Kreider (IR) is on the ice participating
- Lines and D pairs look like this

Panarin-Trocheck-Lafrenière
Cuylle-Miller-Zibanejad
Othmann-Parssinen-Brodzinski
Berard-Carrick-Rempe

Miller-Borgen
Schneider-Vaakanainen
de Haan-Jones

Kaliyev looks like a healthy scratch. Will see if Kreider goes.

This is such a horrendous take. It’s almost like you want the team to fail and you be right over this Panarin argument. The Rangers got an incredible talent in Bread and you’re not going to convince me or most Rangers fans that wasn’t the right decision to bring him in. Don’t tell me by getting bread that it stunt the growth and prevented us from a proper rebuild. That’s BS. They did the rebuild and came out of it on the other side. Look at the Blackhawks and Sabres. Nothing is a guarantee with a rebuild. Look at the roster my guy when we got Panarin. Fox, Lindgren, Miller, Schneider, Laf, Kakko, Chytil, Igor. We could go on and on. Not to mention Kreids is homegrown. They came very close on multiple seasons. Winning a Stanley Cup is obviously the ultimate goal but you gotta enjoy the runs man. I rather it be this way then be out of the playoff picture for 5 years straight because you want a “proper rebuild”
- Awolff9

We have different takes, when you pay someone almost 12m per he is brought in to put you over the top. We went to the conference finals twice. If Trouba doesnt knock Crosby out and we arent playing against a 3rd string goalie in both series do we even win a round? Last year if not for Igors heroics do we get past the Canes? Then we lost in the first round twice and now we are looking at missing the playoffs for a second time since he has been here. This doesnt scream success to me, Im sorry.

Did Panarin block Laffys growth? I think so, Most number 1s get first line minutes and PP time, Laffy never got that time in his first 3 years.

Like you said Fox, Lindgren, Miller, Schneider, Laf, Kakko, Chytil, Igor we here when Panarin signed and now 3 of them are gone, crazy roster turnover.

This theory that Panarin shouldn’t have been signed because he blocked Lafreniere has extreme holes lmao.

I’m no longer in the business of seeing where it lands with this coaching staff. It’s a waste of time. It’s never deviated from this lol

Well we havent won the Cup in 6 years since the "Letter" was sent out and we arent going to be sniffing it this year either most likely.

Ah but you cant think like that. You cant isolate a moment in time and think everything else that follows continues in that linear pattern. If we dont sign Panarin, we dont end up in the standings where we do and end up winning the lottery twice to move up in the draft to 2nd and 1st consecutively.
