Well, if you dont take the time to have a proper rebuild, how do you know what the result will be?

What you're saying is you'd rather not because its easier to stomach.

- aecliptic

That’s exactly my point you don’t know and the rangers a did a proper rebuild. I don’t understand how you can say they didn’t? More than half the roster was homegrown. Again you know who else would have prevented us in your mind a proper rebuild, Igor Shesterkin because like Hank he kept us from s*cking and in the top 10 draft picks years after year. I just strongly dislike the notion that because we got Panarin that it’s the main focal point of why we don’t have a Stanley cup. It’s actually insane to me

We have different takes, when you pay someone almost 12m per he is brought in to put you over the top. We went to the conference finals twice. If Trouba doesnt knock Crosby out and we arent playing against a 3rd string goalie in both series do we even win a round? Last year if not for Igors heroics do we get past the Canes? Then we lost in the first round twice and now we are looking at missing the playoffs for a second time since he has been here. This doesnt scream success to me, Im sorry.

Did Panarin block Laffys growth? I think so, Most number 1s get first line minutes and PP time, Laffy never got that time in his first 3 years.

Like you said Fox, Lindgren, Miller, Schneider, Laf, Kakko, Chytil, Igor we here when Panarin signed and now 3 of them are gone, crazy roster turnover.

- Brukie

Nobody had any issue with Laf and his development going into this season and to start this season. The guy was poised to breakout and got a brand new spanking contract. What has happened since?? Nobody in here really should be ready to just give up on him. You want to tell me he should be given an opportunity on PP1 I can get on board with that but that’s not the reason why he has looked pedestrian lately.

Can you just agree with me that this theory they never should have signed Panarin because of Lafreniere has some serious holes though.

Yes I attacked him, I threw a fact at him. Just as he threw facts at me. Oh so horrible!! But He never called me names or made a derogatory remark and I didnt either, you see even when people disagree we can be somewhat respectful.

We should have called each other names. Its better that way in your view.

Hahahaha Jimmy it’s all good. I love the little back and forth. Gotta go run out with the wife and kids but we can finish this discussion later. Difference of views but I think the Rangers have come very close to winning that cup and enjoyed every single series they won trying to accomplish that. The Panthers were slightly better than us. It happens but you gotta enjoy these moments too.

Truthfully IMO I thought Panarin play good in last years playoffs, his line produced, If Mika would have shown up after the Canes series we might have beaten the Panthers.

Im not singularly pointing fingers at Panarin like Brukie, Im playing devils advocate. I was stoked we signed him because he was one of the players I loved to watch.

Now... Was it the right move? I dont know. Right now, we havent made it to the Cup final, so its looking like no. But what would have been the right move? Was the right move to do nothing and let the cards fall where they may? Was the right move going for Eichel instead?

Kakko has definitely turned into a pumpkin for Seattle though.

He had similar stretches for us at various times as a Rangers like he did after Seattle acquired him.

That’s who he is

Every time you whine about name calling on here I think of Paul Newman in Slap shot when he yells “called us names!”

I am confused didn’t Panarin sign before the rangers won the laf lottery? How could the rangers know they would get the top pick. I don’t understand the argument happening lol

Exactly my point here, why sign Panarin if you just sent out a letter intending on rebuilding, just went against when you wanted to do.

So in contrast, the Rangers got what they wanted by luck in getting the top 2 picks by luck of the balls falling our way. Now they are blocked by Panarin and CK20 in getting top minutes.

Such is life.

I don’t know you kind of lost me with wishing they would miss the playoffs for 5 years in a row. It’s hard to continue reading anything else you say when you type those words

Panarin and Lafreniere had amazing chemistry last year and they’ve been on the same line all year this year too lmao. Panarin hasn’t blocked Lafreniere

look. You’re a wanna be GM. I’m just a fan.

Ultimately we could go round and round on all this but we’ll just end up back in that place.

Do we recoup our picks on a Smith trade or are we stuck with just a second rounder?

He was Drury's quote when he traded for him. I guess Drury was wrong.

“Very excited to get Reilly,” Rangers general manager Chris Drury said. “He's a player we've been looking at and talking about for a while. He brings a lot of versatility to our lineup. He has a winning pedigree having won in Vegas. A proven playoff performer and he just fits in nicely with our entire group. We're talking to a lot of agents and [had] a lot of balls in the air throughout the day and just felt this was the best move we could make."
