Would either team say yes to Fox for Will Smith, with potential sweeteners - Slimtj100
I doubt it. SJ isn’t ready to compete, no need to add Fox. If we were to sell Fox, it would have to be to a team ready to compete for the Cup. |

I’d love if they could add a pick to Smith and get a 1st. - nyrangers9479
Not sure this is the draft to chase a 1st and I doubt anyone wants to trade a 1st next year unless theyre deep in the Cup hunt. However if they end up in the lottery they get to keep their 1st rounder this year. |

Still no judgment. Although funny. But that’s why I asked. Then the question is where did your brother hear it. From an anonymous poster or somewhere credible. It’s how things spread and do they have any truth to it. |

The rest of the Rangers schedule is not easy. If they end up making the playoffs they will have to have played well against good teams. |

No really “chasing” it. I think we get a 2nd no matter what, but would be nice to add let’s say a 3rd, retain 50% and get a 1st. I’m sure teams tight against the cap would love to add Smith for under $2 million
Smith 50% retained and a 3rd
1st (would be 20-30 anyway) |

Just saying Id prefer it be 2026 since we will lose ours assuming we dont make the playoffs and get in the lottery this year. |

I’d take either, I think it’s doable |
|

Point totals when we traded for them:
Smith 29 pts 55 games (currently)
Wennberg 25 pts 60 games (2nd and 4th)
Copp 35 pts in 56 games (1st 2nd and Morgan Barron)
I think a 1st is VERY doable in a Smith trade. |

Normally Id be sarcastic about this but, if he can upsell Smith’s playoff production, yea, maybe |

Going to be a hard sell for a first. Smith isnt close to being a very good player still. |

I think it would take some clever trade package. For example, we could be the middle man in a larger trade where we retain 50% on another player, then throw in Reilly Smith (50% retained) to that same team and then maybe get a return of a first. |

We know Smith is gone but I think thats Drurys last trade, unless he trades Miller. If Miller accepts a bridge deal, I think he stays. CK20 is damaged goods, might not be able to trade him. Mika isnt tradable so I think the shops closed. |

Kreider can be moved. Not damaged goods. Mika is tradeable if he waives. Think they like him on the wing tho now |

I dont mean from us. I mean as a third-party.
Team X trades player (50% retained)
Rangers retain an additional 50% on said player, plus include Smith at 50% retained
Team Y sends a 1st to the Rangers and whatever to Team X.
I think thats how we could end up with a 1st. |

I meant not tradable since he would have to waive, which I dont think he does. |

So you mean, just for the sake of names so I understand what you mean. Pitt trades Crosby to the Avs and we retain 50 of his salary and then send Smith also to the Avs and we get their 1st? |

Sure, but thats not to say the Pens wont get a 1st out of it also. If Smith, 50% retained, is worth a 2nd… then being a broker in the deal should sweeten the pot. Now the Avs are probably not a great example because I doubt they’d want to lose whatever it is they’d give up to get Crosby PLUS give up an additional 1st.
Teams will always try to swing multiple picks before giving up a first in general. So look if we could get a 2nd and a 3rd or 2 2nds, that makes moving up in the draft a bit easier. |

Brodzinski just saw over 15 minutes and Jones had the most time from the dmen. Showcasing them? |

I think Jones has more value being on Power play 1 while Fox is out then the 6th round pick he might get you in a trade |

I’m a fan of Jones. He’s quick, great puck mover, overall solid decision maker and really not horrendous in his own zone. Shocking how little interest he’s generated, a team could hit a home run with him. |

in the 80's the Rangers had this 5-8 defenseman named Curt Giles and to me Jones looks like him, I still cant believe Jones is 5-11

Yep Drury allowed him to seek a trade going back to December. No bites at all. Why I can’t see anything more than a 6th. He has more value with the rangers since Fox is out. Maybe he plays really well down the stretch and you can move him for more value this summer |
