True but in this case it comes down to outright give up on him or hang on & hope. I choose the former if a team wants him bad enough before the summer when more teams could get in on him. The latter if something is hidden from us or EP can figure it out. The 1st the optics appear bad the 2nd seems more logical. I choose asap cuz decided there will be an offer from a team with big cap space like Buffalo or Chicago that want to get a jump on the crowd. If I’m wrong then nothing lost & wait.

Not exactly a given it’s stupid til the return is known & what the excess cap fetches.

He could get back to his ppg norm but nobody would put smart money on it yet.

He could stay the same but again smart money wouldn’t be put down on that.

Then we arrive at the in between & where he is likely to be & a question of where determined by line mates to a big degree? Here is where his trade value should be. New team has to take on more than the perceived risk of his cap hit. Risk Reward. Canucks at least 1 good young player++ & cap space.
