I wonder if they explored it whether or not the return was underwhelming? He's clearly a good player and good enough to make the Canada 4 nations roster, but what would you get? Would it be enough to take a low return just to have the cap and contract off the roster? - Hextall271
I actually think you would get a solid package. He's produced pretty good on a poor team. Add him to a team maybe trying to contend and I think he would fit pretty well.

The Flyers need to be smartly aggressive. Honestly a deal of something like Konecny to VAN for Pettersson would make sense in some trade package. Keeps VAN competitive and he is cheaper then Pettersson. Flyers get a center that Vancouver seems to have soured on. - J35Bacher
I would have no issue with this type of deal. We'll see if this organization has courage or is more interested in marketing around "Culture".

I agree with you except on Peterssen. I am worried about that player and expect there is a reason VAN has soured on him. I'm just not sure he's the player we want to trade major assets for IOT build the team around him. I am all for them making a smart trade to start improving the skill/getting someone projected to be a high end centre. |

I get it. But I just don't have those fears. First I am not sure what happened in Vancouver but he might just be ready to move on after all of it. 2nd, My plan has Torts away from this team with a new coach like David Carle or I would take Mike Sullivan if let go by Pittsburgh so he would get a fresh start. |

Where is MJL
- wcorvette
This site is a lot more civil without MJL. Everybody is entitled to their opinions, but only keyboard warriors call people names and make condescending remarks. Don't post anything online that you wouldn't say face to face to somebody, but that's just my opinion.
In regards to Laughton. Lot's of people are talking about a 1st or 2nd round pick for him, which seems unlikely at this time. Another site mentioned getting a high prospect from another team that could help the Flyers in a couple years when they hopefully become a playoff contender again. Any opinions on that idea? - Thors-Hammer
I would be ok with a prospect that was a late first and still finding their way, a 2nd, I would still move him, a 3rd I see the ratonale to hold for now.

Why would Laughton be worth more than a 3rd, because he is a locker room guy and can play wing? |

Agree with Torts. I really hope he's gone after this season. I just don't like how he manages the younger players. |

I think you might be able to get a late second for him but your point is valid. I guess he's a decent PK guy too but the intangibles he apparently brings are not worth anything more. |

As much as we would want more from him, he is a type of player teams seem to covet around this time. Not saying they are right, but he fits the bill.
Kills penalties
Plays center or wing
can play up and down the lineup
can play a physical playoff style
great in the room(put that in there for those culture guys)
I honestly think they might get a 1st because of what guys are in the market, but I would be perfectly find with a 2nd and prospect or better prospect and 3rd.

The PLD and Chychryn trades worked out pretty well. Kurz is already placing the narrative Pettersson sucks and should be avoided. He acknowledges they need a #1 center, but in the trade market potential #1 centers only become available some type of an issue. Waiting to draft a #1 center thru the draft is a strategy, but how many #1 centers get drafted outside the top 10? Pretty sure not many. - Trox88
At this point Pettersson is going to be dumped like PLD and the Flyers should be all over it especially with their “culture.” It’s a risk but potentially a huge reward that will only cost capspace which is honestly one of the most overrated thing in hockey. |
