A team doesn’t have to tear it down they just have to be bold. This management group is doing neither.

Pettersson is available. Brandt Clarke sounds like he will be available. Jiricek was available. Florida got Reinhart for about the same as the Flyers got Ristolainen. They got Forsling on waivers. Washington leads the conference after accumulating other teams castoffs. Tanking isn’t the only way but the other way is too scary for most GMs.

He did move on from frost and farabee. Maybe nothing crazy bold but he’s not sitting on his hands completely. Not that I think he’s a good GM.

He has really only subtracted players taking back cap dumps. Drysdale is his only real addition so far.

He is getting moved.

Honestly I have never been more sure. There is absolutely no reason to continue to keep him. They say he is great in the room. You know what happens when you move him.....you let one of your younger guys step into that role, like Cates or Forester.

If he has solid offers and doesn't move him then Danny should be fired. That would be complete mismanagement of assets on a team that is closer to a top 5 pick then a playoff spot

- J35Bacher

Its pretty funny because you can see what Briere and Torts are doing. They are trying to leverage better deals. Torts was basically sucking off Risto in the last presser. They are talking guys up and trying to move them without sounding desperate. Laughton I think will be moved for sure by the deadline. Id be surprised if either were on the open day roster in October

SOmetimes you can add by not subtracting. Look at the value that rp and gh deliver night in and night out to this team. Can you imagine where this team would be if those 2 were not extended?!?!?!?!?

You got to think Clarke is available. 7th D last game, 4th pair again at practice. It isnt as if he was struggling either. I thought he was playing well in Doughty absence.

The same place they would be with the 4th or 5th round pick they got for them

Do you honestly think "talking" them up is going to sway a GM? GM's have the book on players. Nothing an opposing GM or coach says is going to be the deciding factor in a trade.

In the case of Laughton been trying to leverage a better deal for years now according to your logic.

Imagine being the GM of a bottom 10 team that is going nowhere. What a dilemma it must be trying to reach a conclusion on whether to trade your 30 year old bottom 6 forward. Wonder how the GM gets any sleep.

In all honesty I would be wheeling and dealing. Your a bottom 5-7 team. No where to go but up.

Koonecy - Moved instead of extended
Hathaway - moved instead of extended
Seeler - Moved instead of extended
Laughton - moved
Poehling - moved
Risto - Moved

Briere should have been like a kid in a candy store and shook this up, got the draft capital and then begin rebu7ilding this starting with you packages and picks this offseason.

Also I would look at the 2026 draft to maybe get a shot at McKenna.

Then start my path forward.

Briere has an online certificate from Wharton. Do you? Be patient and stop questioning their methods. They are still evaluating.

Kolosov been sent down yet? What is the issue?

He doesn't want to play in the minors. Laughton wants to stay. Why do they even need a GM?

That is not true.

1) It was rumored a 1st was offered for Laughton. It is not a fact that was the case.
2) Flyers were not interested in moving Laughton last year. The team was doing well and in a playoff position. The team looked like they were taking a step forward. They did not obviously.

And to answer your other question, yes talking them up does get a GMs interest. You are selling a "product" to another GM, The teams job is to make their product look better than other SIMILAR products. No one is trying to sell Laughton and Risto as top line Cs and top line D. Teams looking at Laughton are also looking at guys like Frederic, Gourde, Evans and Pageau

People are adding Schenn to that list but he wont be moved. Blues are back in the playoff race and Schenn has a full No trade clause

I think the reality of the 1st rd offered for Laughton included taking back a bad contract, same as Walker. They are really pushing hard the intangibles of a 30 yr old who has scored 40 points once. Hope it gets done, he isn't getting a 1st as a rental next deadlne.

Very telling a Stanley Cup winning GM gave up significant assets for 5 yrs of Seth Jones @ 7 million/yr. Torts can talk about the greatness of Risto all he wants, the league does not look @ 5.1 million for 2 years as a bargain as of yet. There is no need to leave Risto on PP. The PP still stinks and I would rather see Drysdale get the reps and see how he develops. Having a 30 yr old run a crappy PP. makes little sense.

Who is better? Let’s see; Risto’s supposed to be a defensive defenseman now, but he’s nothing special defensively and Drysdale is an offensive defenseman who is not particularly great offensively. Hmm. I’d say it’s a toss up. Drysdale is young and still has potential. I’d keep him, but, until I see one of them moved, I honestly don’t believe there’s any interest in either of them.

I agree and was wondering that. I don’t think he got anything other than the 2 min interference penalty. To me, it was dirty as the puck was nowhere near him.

What Im hearing (otherwise known as reading and listening to hockey related programing) is that the league doesn't view Risto anywhere near what the Flyers are portraying him as.

The league seems to be more in line in what the majority of us in here think, that Risto is having a good year by his standards, but that his standard was set so low that 2/3 of a season does not make him worth what the Flyers seem to think he is worth.

He has become a decent defensive player but at the expense of most of his offensive point production. And while he may be in the top 4 for a weak Philadelphia defense, he is at best a 5.1 million a year 3rd pair defenseman with terrible advanced stats for a playoff team with cup aspirations.

Teams are not willing to part with a first round pick for that.

Gave up a backup goalie who had issues awhile back and missed time. Hence stolarz has a Stanley cup ring.

Also Chicago is paying some of jones salary.

Jones is most likely gonna replace ekblad

FLA still gave them a 1st rd pick and a player who was drafted in the 1st rd. Zito views Jones @ 7 million for 5 yrs as a worthy investment for a top 4 Dman.

On the other hand, the league does not view giving up significant assets for a top 4 Dman on a non playoff team for 5.1 million for 2 more seasons. Something to consider with the cap rising, a top 4 Dman is going to get significantly more then the cap hit for Sanheim. Flyers want to sign York long term this summer. Fine, but it will cost over 7 million/yr. I would believe most of the league would consider York a top 4 Dman. As of now, the league views Risto as an overpaid 3rd pair Dman. Maybe that changes, but when a top 4 Dman under the age of 34 becomes available, teams are usuually willing to give up a lot.

Brandt Clarke scratched again by LA. Sure seems like there is an issue. Seem like a worthy gamble to take for a rebuilding team to try and acquire a former 1st rd pick who has a year left on his ELC.
