I wonder if Anaheim will trade Trouba to a contender and retain half

For free tho is the key. McLeod, who I do like, will cost something valuable you’d think

My thinking is…for a playoffs run, get one more center and one more dman without giving up much of anything

They’ve explicitly stated they are not adding any pure rentals

Say what you want about his $ to production, the dude is a leader. I still think that affected the Rangers this year. Not that they shouldn't have traded him, but it did have a negative outcome.

They have cap space tho. Which is why I brought up gourde. He’s on the expensive side of the ledger where very few teams would be in on him imo.

I wouldn’t necessarily believe they won’t go after ANY rentals

I think there’s a lot to be said about a “leader” in the locker room who kind of sucks poop on the ice.

They won’t go after rentals. Period. And I reject the premise that the cost of gourde is so low that it’s basically free

Barclay Goodrow 2.0 ---- PASS!
- TommyGTrain

They should get Blake Coleman too. Then they can have had the entire 3rd line from Tampa's Cup teams

Never say never, but with minimal draft capital, it is going to be tough to do so. Any rental would be a 13th forward or 7th d-man that would costfuture considerations in the form of a bag of pucks or something...stick if Hubba Bubba Bubblegum.

I just want McLeod because he’s a speedy boi and gets us much younger at center

It also ties up a retention slot way too early for next season. I feel like they may choose to keep him once he hits free agency (not certain you can extend a player for less $$$).

That why I brought up gourde lol I find it hard to believe a team has enough cap space to trade for him. He’s making 5 million bucks right now. Gonna cost someone two picks, 1 for a retainment, to get him. We legit could get him for one of those c prospects and like a 4th rd pick imo once they deal smith away

I’m just not very confident in jusso (who has never really done it consistently yet), JBrod and Carrick as the 3C options in the playoffs. I’m not sure the rangers are either.

Rangers could probably get Gourde for free basically. He makes a lot of money where he shouldn’t have too many teams in on him this time of year, and his year is pretty atrocious. He always been a good playoff guy
- Slimtj100

When Drury said he's not interested in anyone that doesn't have term, he stated that he is not making moves that are just based on success in this playoff. He upset the room in order to get rid of Goodrow. Now, you think he's going to bring in a guy that got the same inflated contract at the same time, and is 2 years older for the same hope of post-season success, despite regular season mediocrity? I have a feeling we might be amassing draft picks and that's it for trades this season. I am ok with the roster the way it is for the time being.

I don’t buy that rentals are completely off the table. They need a center for depth purposes. Maybe they get Laughton who has another year left

Respectfully, and maybe I’m wrong, but I think you’re off on what Drury is looking to do

the Frozen Four is April 10 and 12th

the Rangers last two games are on April 14th and April 17th

possibly, but unlikely, but could have Gabe Perreault in for the last two games

that would be wild if Ryan Leonard signed with the Caps, Perreault signed with the Rangers and they faced each other in first round

No, you're right. We are last year's Capitals. Seeling, but yet still trying to make playoffs with what the orginization has. Stock up on picks, maybe trade one at the draft for a player the team is needing.

I think he’s selling and buying for need (without trading much)

We’ll find out in a couple days but he has cap space to use
