Missed most of the game because there was a fire in the house beside us (I poop you not). I heard the fire alarm in their house (they were out) and wife called police as we saw no smoke / fire but were worried maybe it was a Co2 alarm and police came, pried open a sliding door and smelled smoke and called Fire Dept.
Pot left on stove - they ran a line into the house and opened it up, I would imagine a lot of water damage and it still reeks of smoke outside.
Then I had a 10pm hockey game vs my younger brother. It was similar to the Leaf game and I"ll leave it at that.
Watched the last 10 minutes of the game and then saw the high (low) lights - woof.
Marner -1 despite scoring? And people talking about him deserving more than Matthews?
Leafs miss the playoffs without Willy - fact.
Get Rants and let Marner take the same as Willy or walk, if he really wants to be a Leaf he will take the deal if not bye Felicia.
Saw Marner's post game presser - unimpressive and uninspiring to the max.Strip him of the A he was gifted by Lou to compensate for the salary issue and give it to the true leader on the wing - Willy.
Knies throwing the bombs and wining his fight was
The rumour of a huge Philly and Toronto trade involving Willy is nothing less than pure BS.
Nite. - Cush29
Glad to hear your house was ok, hope your neighbours didnt lose too many irreplaceable items (pics etc)
Without willy and/or marner for the entire season i think the leafs would be fighting for a playoff spot. Specially with how meh our new captain has been.
Honestly, the A's mean nothing. But marner is poop with the media he simply doesnt know how to handle himself, always in defense mode. But i dont care too much for player interviews anyway.
Im sure ill get dumped on for this, but i honestly feel like neither marner or matthews has that extra level needed to go the distance.
But its just a feeling, truly hope im wrong.
Anyway, its an ugly loss....shake it off onto to the next game.
Dont overpay for anything Tre, stay the course |

Every team gets hammered a couple of times a year, it's not a big deal, they'll come around.
And stay away from these nonsense B. Schenn and Laughton trade proposals that are being shilled around by the usual media clowns... not gonna happen, not emptying the cupboard for Brayden Schenn, Jesus H |

Vegas is a good team. They blow up our goalie this time, we blow up their goalie next time. In the Stanley Cup Final my dudes, and you are gonna find yourself one smiling mutha (frank)a. And 4 months from now at the parade you are gonna say Zezel was right. |

The canes arent giving away Rantanen. The canes are gonna want players that can help them now.
Robertson and Cowen arent that.
Cost of doing business
Rantanen most likely stays in carolina past the deadline - Fakepartofme
Nah Leafs have the pieces.
Knies for a rental is madness and all 31 other teams would agree.
And the Canes won't get an offer for players that will help them now, not significant anyways.
The way that GM thinks he will want just value back, the best he can get.

I think the only player the Canes would consider is Knies (plus whatever) for Rant. which is a no go imo. even with an extension. |

It would be less concerning if it was just this game but they haven’t played well for a bit. Maybe these last two losses are a kick in the ass that wake them up |

Rantanen makes no sense for the leafs unless they are moving on from Marner

I just disagree here. Rantanen isn't considering an extention right now...which brings his value down. It has brought his value down for the Canes org which is why they are considering trading him.
The way that GM thinks he will want value. No team is offering a Knies, thats insane especially considering he does not come with a contract.
If he does come with a contract? Yeah then Carolina has more to offer but thats why they are in this pickle to begin with. |

Only reason to move Knies is if he is asking for 9mil a year or something stupid on his next deal. |

No, outside of knies there are no players that help the canes now...McMann is nowhere near enough.
I dont see it happening. |

Knies is on pace for 57pts, his most ever.
$9m per is way to high imo.
Id do $7m x 8 max...even that feels high |

It's way too high in today's cap environment, for sure. But IF the cap jumps as much as it's looking like it will, and IF he keeps developing into a dominant power forward, that deal might look like a steal in 2-3 years. I'm not saying with absolute certainty that I do that deal, but it's food for thought. |

With the economic environment being what it is, im not 100% sold the cap rises as much as once predicted. A lot of variables in play that werent back then.
But even at $100m, $9 per is too much for knies right now.
Lets see how the playoffs go. |

They already lost Guentzel for nothing. Tulsky wants value.
And I do not, but I do know no team is offering a Knies for a rental. Its just a given. |
