The flip side is that when they did it with Willy on his last deal for several of the seasons of that deal he was paid fairly or underpaid for what he was contributing.

He scored > 30 goals twice and scored 40 goals twice and was paid 6.9M all 4 of those years.

Yep. Ottawa and Montreal have really tried to get ahead of things. Some look like absolute steals (Sanderson/Stutzle/Suzuki) and others a bit of a wait and see still.
