JBB dishes out 1st round picks like they're candy. They don't have a 1st until 2028 lol dude gives no (frank)s. Make all the trades try to win as many cups with Kuch/Hedman/Point as they can.

As he should, though this seems worse than GMJR's burning through assets.

I can 100% confirm there is 1 team that HAS already offered close to that same package for Rackell and Beauvilier. That was as of Monday and why I said trading rakell should be priority #1. 1st, 1st and a prospect that is probably in pens top 4-5.

So…. E5? Gotcha.

Hell, the oilers just traded a 2nd and 4th for Trent fackin Frederic.....

I’m trying my best to remain pessimistic lol. At this rate we could get a 1st for Gryz, too.

I also feel like first round picks are more valuable after the season too. If we get 4-5 first round picks, we could leverage them nicely at the draft.

Again, not saying we would get them, but this market is making everyone theorize a brighter future much quicker.

I appreciate his boldness, he knows what he needs and he gets it. The Hagel trade was universally panned but he has turned into a core piece for them. No draft picks but they do have Howard who is going to be really good.

I know you know your stuff, but if we are being offered 2 1sts and a good prospect, why wouldn't Dubas jump all over that or at least sit Rack out until he pulls the trigger? Or is it possible that Tampa was that team?

Last year he waited it out with Jake and he seemed to get a suboptimal return.

Are you hearing anything else? Any new teams involved with Karlsson?

There’s more Rakell’s in the league than Trent Fredrick’s though.

If it was me Id have accepted that trade literally that second. Does Dubas want that package? Not sure… could also be they want Beau half retained with a smaller cap hit player coming back but the prices right now are VERY HIGH.

You can’t seriously tell me there wasn’t a team that didn’t offer a 1st plus for Guentzel last season….

https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/co...f-jake-guentzel-1.2081452

That’s obviously from last season but I said last deadline at that time I definitely think the Rangers had a better offer on the table and leaked that intentionally. I still think Dubas tried playing his hand to get a steal from a desperate team and then waited to long and got burnt with a lesser offer. I brought up last year it was “rumoured” Dubas asked for Perrault, Cuylle, 1st…

That can be a fair thought as well.
But as a counter on the other line. How many Rakell’s have 30 goals and 50+ points that are available right now on a contract that pretty much all 31 teams can quite easily fit at this deadline without taking much more then a 4th liner off there team?

I was listening to the NHL network not too long ago and someone mentioned Dubas is focusing on prospects who are close to being NHL ready more than picks. I think DK's site had something on that too.

Nothing on Karlsson other than what I said before about Florida asking about him.

If I were a GM I’d be quite weary of trading big for Rakell. Chances are if you’re a contender you already have a Rakell or two.

You're right that this is probably how it works out for the trading team not getting as much from him as the Pens did putting him next to Crosby and Rust. But there are teams with holes in their top 6 and clearly don't have enough wings that will feel the pressure and Rackell has more ES goals than anyone else available has total goals.

Buyer beware to someone else. But for the Pens it's a good reason to sell and either let Sid and Geno finish the year together or see what Tomasino can do in an elevated role.

Kings and Devils are desperate for scoring, though I don't know if they're desperate to push in. Carolina is in a tough spot where if they decide to unload Rantanen they need a top 6 fast and will have some spare assets. And Florida, if they are LTIR Tkachuk could use the Tampa method and load up to go back to back. They may want to respond after Tampa paid big for a new third line too.

Those are my top teams to look at. Any others?

I agree, that wouldn't make a lot of sense for the Pens in the short-term, and maybe not the long term either if they'll be picking high.

Goaltender they will probably be letting their prospects get a shot at, so I don't see them going for a major fix there this off-season until. Blomqvist will get another shot and Murashov will get one before that. So as bad as gaoltending has been, I do agree with addressing other areas instead and hope they have that answer internally.

- Tojo.

They's probably be on the right side of the playoff bubble this season if they just had something resemebling NHL goaltending. I'm not saying they'd be an actualy contender, just in the bubble.

Well we disagree there. The blue line is awful and has contributed to that goaltending. And there's not much positive going on beyond that top line. Better goaltending wins a few more games and makes them seem closer, but this still isn't a playoff team IMO.

I don't think we're too far apart on this. I think the Pens SHOULDN'T be able to get the type of return for Rackell that is being mentioned. But with this sellers market and seeing the ridiculous prices teams are paying I think they COULD.

Holy hell, didnt realize Seattle got 2 1sts and a 2nd. If we have an offer close to that for Rakell and another guy, we should take it and run.
