Novak is a solid player and Bunting had no future here. Guessing Dubas will try to flip Schenn before the deadline.

Yea bunting definitely wasn’t in the long term plans. Novak seems like just another 3rd/4th liner.

Or a player Sullivan will play top minutes.

Kings and Devils are desperate for scoring, though I don't know if they're desperate to push in. Carolina is in a tough spot where if they decide to unload Rantanen they need a top 6 fast and will have some spare assets. And Florida, if they are LTIR Tkachuk could use the Tampa method and load up to go back to back. They may want to respond after Tampa paid big for a new third line too.

Those are my top teams to look at. Any others?

Avs, Oilers, Knights, Utah, leafs. Kings and Panthers as you mentioned are obvious fits.

Avs 4th leading point forward has 34 points in 60 games…
Oilers 3rd leading point forward has 37 points in 60 games…
Knights 4th leading point forward has 37 points in 60 games.
Utah obviously just badly needs him and would do anything to make the playoffs
Leafs are trying for a D man but if they miss there…. Rak would look pretty good on the 2nd line and they know there is a possibility Marner is gone soon…..

I don't think we're too far apart on this. I think the Pens SHOULDN'T be able to get the type of return for Rackell that is being mentioned. But with this sellers market and seeing the ridiculous prices teams are paying I think they COULD.

Pensforlife actually works for a team and has crazy inside information. So I am sad we didn't take the package as he stated. Dubas is torn on trading him because of the impact on Sid I would assume; however you need to just make a deal sometimes like with the Pettersson deal.

I knew Novak was previously mentioned. What an interesting deal. I didn't expect Bunting to be traded until the offseason.

Dubas is going for a whole different look with these trades. I do wonder if the Novak trade means Acciari or Hayes may be gone.

Edit: I read an article that said they can put Novak at 2nd line center and bump Malkin back to Crosby's wing.

I do find it crazy that the Leafs aren't a team beating down the door for Karlsson. He would definitely be the RHD they have been missing. Plus I would imagine Karlsson would easily waive his NTC to play for them.

Think Kevin Hayes might be headed out now with Tommy here?

I could see it but they are too tight to the cap to fit 10mill. Bérubé I think has them in the top 10 for GA so who knows if they go that way. If they somehow ship out Kampf, Jarnkrok and Reaves tho… Rak and Schenn trade package with someone retaining obviously makes them better

Not sure how I feel about all these moves. I'm OK with Schenn over Decharnais because he's more likely to get flipped for something.

We'll miss the physical edge Bunting sometimes gave us and on the PP. I've made no secret of my thoughts though that he and Malkin were a bad fit together and this creates an opportunity for someone else to step into a second line role without playing with two defensive liabilities. Yet despite Bunting's limitations, I feel like he should have gotten more.

Novak feels like a weird tweeter that isn't good enough offensively to be a 2C, and doesn't kill penalties or eat DZ assignments and is bad at faceoffs so is he a 3C? He does have good possession metrics and decent ES scoring production for a middle six guy. And we really lack centers.

I guess that makes sense if it helps move Malkin to wing. Still not sold this is a good return for Bunting, but we'll see how it goes.

I think it allows for us to trade Rakell and not have Sid go nuts because we will Bump up Malkin to his wing. Plus going into next season it could be interesting to rebuild the 2nd line and Defense with some cap space to play with.

Well he should definitely have an elevated role here so will be interesting if he can be a serviceable top 9 C. Gonna be hard to stick at 3C with lack luster defense though so he better hope the idea of moving Malkin to wing pans out.

Clearly step 1 of Dubas's master plan is to collect as many Nashville players as possible.

Luke schenn gets moved for a 3rd? Maybe the pens pull off a move like Seattle. Rakell and Novak for 2 1sts…it could happen…

Maybe he's a wing? IDK, be interested to see what happens. It does at least seem to increase flexibility in the lineup.

Was that you that called that...? I thought that made no sense but spot on!

There has to be more to it for us to just pick up a random bottom 6 C and Schenn. I mean, Im good with it I think (not so sure about the term left with Novak. I like Schenn too.

For some reason I feel like Schenn gets flipped, but maybe it's indicative of a Karlsson trade coming? Seems a bit odd to just bring him in for the bottom pair?

Also with Schenn, I totally wouldn't rule out us doing some trade with STL to reunite the bros. Graves & Schenn for Krug? 😆

What are 27 year old 40 point players supposed to cost? It’s not 2016 anymore…

I thought about this. Could you IMAGINE getting out from under the graves contract? Regardless, these are net positive trades. The TDL is dubas’ bread and butter imo. He’s god awful at free agency but always does well with trades.

I think the combo of Rack & Schenn could make sense for both Vancouver & LA. Clarke would be a big target for Dubas, Schenn will help them more in the next 2 seasons than Clarke (if Doughty is healthy) and the need a Rackell type player.

Minor trades but they've got me excited.

Depends if they are current or former 40 point players. I didn't say it was awful, just saying there is term attached to it.
