It's very quiet. I wonder if all the trades will be made tomorrow morning.

Wouldn't be surprised if Rantanen and maybe Nelson are holding up the market while those teams decide what to do.

So how did Carolina trade for Rantanen without the complete confidence they would be signing him? Swapping out your scoring leader for a guy you can't keep seems like a complete faceplant. If Dubas did something like that...
- madmike71

Especially a year after wanting to sign Guentzel and having him leave. You'd have thought they'd have learned. Carolina feels like they are going to miss their window.

I think it is a little bit of this and a little bit of the teams waiting to see if the prices come down at all.

I think you mean Graves and Jarry are the ones holding things up.

True, teams are probably just seeing who can give the most good players for them.

Watching this lightning sabres game and Jj Paterka is absolutely legit. Not sure why I was hesitant on giving up a haul for him but I’m all about it now.

Yeah, I'd love to get him but that is one guy who should basically be untouchable for Buffalo. I still think a Pettersson for Cousins deal needs to happen for both teams.

I also think Dubas should be working a trade for Power. We need a guy like Power badly and Buffalo can't pay $30M for 3 LD's. Here's my unrealistic dream deadline:

PIT - Clarke, Hoglander, LA 2026 2nd
LA - Boeser, Beau & Bruinke
VAN - Rackell & Hayes

PIT - Domi, 2026 1st & 2025 2nd
TOR - Karlsson ($5M ret)

PIT - Power
BUF - Pickering, Jarry, NYR 1st & Leafs 1st

FA-Crosby-Rust
Hoglander-Malkin-FA
Domi-Novac-Tomasino
Heinen-Turcotte-Lizotte

Power-Letang
Gryz-Schenn
Graves-Clarke

Ned-Blom

We have $24M to address 2 top 6 forwards and we still have a likely top 5 pick. That's a solid young playoff team.

Incredible return for the Islanders on a pending UFA Brock Nelson.... either a 26 or 27 1st round pick, a 3rd round pick, and Colorado's best prospect who was ranked #19 in the NHL's top 100 prospects.

Folks, if Dubas sticks the landing tomorrow with Rackell, he could easily move the Penguins' rebuild up a year or so.

He’s going to (frank) this up and Rak will fall back down from grace next year or buyers market

Great opportunity for Dubas to fleece someone. I sure hope he doesn't mess this opportunity to trade Rakell for a sweet return.

Should call Florida on Gadjovich. Good fighter, great teammate, always seems competent when I watch him play.

Well Nelson is a great two way Center that can score from anywhere. I think you guys are over estimating the market for Rakell.

I’d just keep him. He’s humming with Sid, let it ride.

For what people are getting right now, we can get a top prospect who can hum with Sid and 3 picks to go along with it.

I’ve defended Dubas for a while now but this TDL is such an opportunity that him screwing it up will have lasting effects.

No guarantees a top prospect can hum with Sid next season. Right now Rak is a bonifed winger for Sid. So, I could see him not being shipped out and I think I'd be fine with that. I would also be totally okay with him being shipped out if there's a very nice return. To me its a win win situation with Rak.

So Lafreniere would obviously be going the other way. What else... Their 2025 2nd or a 2026/27 1st dependent on which pick we get this year?

Buffalo likely doesn't want to pay him +$9M and they also don't want to wait for someone to offer sheet him and only get a 1,2&3 rd pick.

I was more so highlighting the trade market with that comment. Sid still has rust, who’s now healthy. There were thoughts of Malkin playing on his wing too.

That’s been the pens Moto for the last 6 yrs lol.

I think this DL/draft makes or breaks Dubas.

Can’t see owners tolerating another rebuild season..

Dubas signed a 7 year deal. I can only assume, rebuilding was in the discussion when they hired him. Whatever you think of Dubas, no GM can do a rebuild in one year when your best players are all nearing 40. Next year will definitely be another season just like this one. They really don't have any other options.
