That thought crossed my mind as well, but if you look at Colorado's cap situation next year, they have very little cap room opening up.

oh yeah, im sure that ship sailed. but he may be regretting not taking a deal that would have kept him there

Rantanan contract talks in a stalemate. Leafs 100% swooping in with a lowball for a rental /s
- Whipper

Precisely 0% chance they gift him to a team they might have to go through in the playoffs.

Imagine posting fake trade rumors and insanely bad trade proposals for weeks / months all involving moving out the top scoring player on the leafs (apparently just because you don’t have the mental capacity to like or love 2 players on a team you claim to be a fan of) only to yet again be disappointed when the trade deadline happens.

Talk about being the ultimate Flake and hater of the Leafs current MVP.
🤣🤣🤣

After TDL Matthews, Willy and Marner are all Leafs and let’s hope they can figure it out come playoffs and lead this team to a deep run - along with Reilly and the rest of the Leafs.

Go Leafs Go

Don’t sell the farm on a pipe dream Tre, spend what’s reasonable or don’t spend at all - don’t get caught up in the panic buying mob mentality today please!

Imagine if he came back to Colarado on a deal that was the same (of less😳) than what Carolina offered him!!!!😳😳😳😳

Total WWF heel move! Lol

34 wants a "bump" ...says he deserves a "bump". Gotta keep the talent happy. Pay the price.

Leafs need players who can score at 5v5, Nelson was probably the top target for that.
next Tuch and Donato

cuz we know they wont score on the PP in the playoffs

Are you and I taking crazy pills?! Are we the only ones wanting to pay a price to push all in?

I personally believe it's extremely hard to win in professional sports. So there's no point in really hedging for "needing prospects" when you're in a window.

Ya if he doesn’t want to sign with Dallas then I think every team views him as a rental at this point. Tough situation because Carolina could make a good run with him. Probably 90/10 he stays with Carolina now for the playoff run.

What 7 million in players is leaving the roster? Buffalo wants players to play NOW. Not picks and prospects.

What would it take to rescue Tuch for the tire fire that is Buffalo, though?!?

I want a Porsche 911 GT3.

You don’t always get what you want and maybe someone needs to tell Matthews that and explain what the salary cap is and how it works if his mentality is sell the farm now to satisfy his desire for a bump.

Or

Move Willly to L1.

Or

Go talk to the shady guy who keeps going to the men’s room and seems to have a constant runny nose.

You could ask the same about the Leafs if you want to go “all in” who are they moving because they don’t have a lot of capital that will land a huge “going all in” move.

Are you saying move Minten, Cowan, 1st round pic, Knies?

These are the pieces that would be what teams are asking for to make an all in move IMO.

Lets be honest, boys. This is the best team the Leafs have assembled since, what, the early 90s?!?! They were first in the division, and were 6pts out of first overall until a few days ago. This is a heck of a team. If we want to go deep, we have to spend, because both Florida and Tampa are.
- Whipper

As posted earlier, the 2004 team would have been awesome had it not been for the lockout.

What we've seen this and in recent years are great reg season teams...not great playoff teams (well this year has yet to be determined)

I'd argue this team is a lot better built for the playoffs than anything we've seen in a LOOOOONG time. Certainly, better than anything we've seen in the Matthew's era.

Leafs couldve made it work for sure. I agree they wanted players, but Leafs could easily match Norris and Bernard Docker (AHL level player ATM).
