21 - they got foligno - which everyone wanted but he got injured (covid year, not sure if that hinder the leafs other options or not)

Make a trade for a player with term for sure....honestly Id be up for acquiring a quality top 4 D if he comes with term...even if it cost a 1st and top prospect (which of course it would). But risto isnt it.

Gio was a great vet but just a bottom pairing guy at that point in his career, Lya is just a meh
Foligno was bad luck I get it but it makes the deal a failure
Muzzin was awesome but never played more than 50-ish games in a season for the leafs, which sadly makes the deal average at best

I also think O’Reilly was solid but the cost was too much.

I do think McCabe was flat out incredible tho

I do too, but judging by how his last contract negotiation went, it's going to hurt. Hopefully, this Rantanan deal can be used as a bit of a gauge to keep him below $13M.

Mitch is a better all around player. If he gets 13.5M it’s not because it’s Toronto, it’s because he deserves it. And he’ll be leaving money on the table to stay in TO.

He has been healthy this year, and has been bad. Cozens is way higher ceiling at this point. Norris will end up being a find 2nd line centre. Certainly not a 2nd line centre on a contending team. JMO ofcourse, but thats what I see.

Knies is already better then both those players, obviously wouldnt trade him for them. Maybe the Leaf fit wasnt there, but I feel like we could have given more then Norris.
