I do hope Briere has the courage to at least take away some of Torts' favorite toys today. It would give me a glimmer of hope. Going forward, there is going to need some clarity how much influence Torts has on the roster after leaving the bench. My sense is he will not be happy just being some type of Senior Consultant like Bob Murray. This current structure is part of the problem. Too many voices with influence over the NHL roster.

I do think this structure is part of the problem. The current HC has a lot of input in personnel decisions. I do not see him willingly giving up that power after his days behind the bench are over.

Imagine a bottom 10 team worrying about having to replace Risto. This right there shows you they think in the next 2 years then can compete.

Flyers fans should be deeply concerned this is their line of thinking. How much further are you falling in the standing without Risto? If you fall at all.

Agreed, last trade deadline was pretty much a buyer's market. Not many 1st rd picks were traded, Briere got the job done last year. Certainly possibly could have been better by moving Laughton, Seeler, and Hathaway last deadline. This is a much more plentiful market and to not capitalize when a team is in a "rebuild" would be criminal.

A fallacy that does not get mentioned is that the attendance numbers have not returned to pre Covid levels. Average game attendance has gotten better over the last 2 seasons, but still well below. The organization placing price increases and remaining status quo is not going to help. Too much smoke around Laughton for two years now, Briere cannot afford to not get the deal over the line.
