I think the Frost, Farabee deal seems to have been the right move. Frost looked decent, not great but we diddn't want to sign his new contract and Farabee hasn't produced yet, showing maybe the 5 mil contract was a good one to get out of.
Danny's ability to do moves became evident at the Luchenko draft. He did'nt just pick Luchenko over Buium. He moved back, got a third and flipped that third with ours to move up to take Spencer Gil in the second. To me that showed great poise in asset management. Now maybe he will be proved wrong for targeting Luchenko over Buium. But he moved to maximize his assets in what he thought was the best pick. |

I am saving my full critique for after this week's event. However, if he does nothing I want GMDB removed from office.
You have seen this week how a few GM's got creative and were aggressive. No reason the Flyers can't be.
Also, if they do not trade Laughton and then frame it as his leadership is too valuable I might have an aneurysm. - mickel25
Agree we have to wait and see what happens. I honestly feel like there might be a trade but will not be shocked if he sits on his hands. At this point I want Laughts out of Philly just so we don't have to talk about it. Tired of hearing about it TBH.

I would argue asset management is also making picks and both of those picks were questionable. Sorry, Jett is a 3rd liner (maybe 2nd if he hits) and Gill is meh...
This team is not in a position to mess up picks. We will see but I would bet my house Zeev will be a stud in the NHL. |

Think it if fair to give both players more than a dozen or so games to see if it was the right move. They have some Flyers habits they need to remove from their repertoire. No issue moving either one mind you. |

Very fair assessment and well said.
I thought the hiring of DB and Jonsey was questionable at best. Danny is a neophyte in the hockey management business and the POHO is a color analyst. It never struck me as a shrewd move to hire two guys with very little experience. ON top of that you have a Coach that will dictate who and what he wants,. Torts never was right for the rebuild - he has too much say and will try to squeeze every last bit of his players and his management team.
We will see by tomorrows trade deadline. - Flyfly
Thank you.
Totally agree on Torts. I didn’t mind that he built some structure throughout the team and in the FO, but I definitely want a younger coach starting next season. |

I was holding out hope that this FO group would be different but I have to say, I’m losing faith. I’m not one to just align with the masses and say because things were being run a certain way ten years ago, that would be the status quo for today. I try to judge each FO group on their own merits. As I don’t think it’s fair to hang upon this group what Hextall did, Fletcher and as far back as to Holmgren and even Clarke. But if this FO sits on their hands through this TDL for the 2nd straight year, that would be very disappointing. Speaking on the deadline, I like a GM who moves, what would be considered the bigger deals or core players, i.e. Laughton, Risto, before the deadline day and save the Erik Johnson types on the last day. This way you already have in your pocket what’s really needed or wanted without having your back to the wall, hopefully not making a hasty decision. Then if some GM unexpectedly gives you a little more prior to 3pm, then so be it. - Laceemup88
Unfortunately, over the past 2-3 years I have enjoyed watching them lose. Not because I want better draft picks, but because I feel every loss shoves it right up Tortorella's, Jones' and Briere's collective asses for believing in a system which is both archaic and "neanderthalic" and goes directly against what every successful organization is doing.... |

Every minute that passes is just pure entertainment. The Flyers with Scott Laughton act as though they have their hands on the doomsday key. It is utterly hilarious. |

No…. What that shows is just how incompetent they are. Passing on buium was same as passing on caulfield. Flat out stupid |

With each move made the musical chairs get pulled away. I love it. This poopbag team gets EVERYTHING it deserves and so do its vast majority of its stupid fanbase. (frank)ing loserville flyers. Go birds |

No he won’t. He will be replaced by the next stooge Cumcast throws in there and a new marketing campaign will begin. And the dumbest fanbase in league will slurp it right up |

Logically one would think. However him and Jones like this roster (which is scary and leaves very little to no confidence in this management team) and think they are not far off......from a playoff spot. |

Well everyone has their reasons and who am I to say if their level of disgust is warranted. I think in general, we’re all disgruntled in where the team is at.
To me, before Torts was hired, this team wasn’t even competitive on most nights. Losing 0-3 ten minutes into each game or once they fell behind they would just quit, never any comebacks. Having said that, as I’ve said in another response, I don’t want this coaching staff going beyond this season. IMO it’s time for a younger coach to grow as the team grows, let alone their system on a nightly basis. |

Besides Rantanen and Marner, who are these Big Game Hunting players the Flyers are supposedly hunting for? PLease don't tell me they will be throwing 8 digits at Tavares or Bennett. Do they plan on hamstringing themselves and throwing a big offer sheet at McTavish?
There are no Centers that fit that criteria in UFA or RFA. So a trade? Who is trading a big name player like that?

I would go all in on Rantanen if he was willing to sign a long term deal with the Flyers. I wouldn't mind seeing Luchanko, Rant and Michkov together next season. I'm not sure where Rantanen would want to play, but I doubt it would be for the Flyers, unless he likes to block shots. |

All talk to generate interest in a dead franchise. Wonder how many media types they have on the payroll. |
