Has the USA said anything otherwise that Russia isn’t the enemy?
Who gave the green light for Russia to invade the Ukraine? Was that one democrat Joe Biden? Did Biden do anything to prevent the war? Did he do anything to try to end it? Trump has done more in a month than 4 years of the war machine Demos.
You crack me up. Glad the President is putting the USA first. My guess is your one of those who thinks the bank should be open and give them whatever they need while rest Europe gives or pays less. - Striiker

A source told ESPN's John Buccigross that the Bruins will receive a 2027 second-round choice that turns into a 2028 first-round pick if certain conditions are met for Marchand. Not Lundell as some reported earlier on this forum! |

Boston did very well. Time will tell if it pans out. Will Marchand return in the summer? |

I know he’s 36 and a ufa but he’s almost 50 points still. Would think he’d be worth a 1st + |

My guess is Boston did him a solid and let him pick his spot. Did he have a NMC? |

Yes. Even so, it's a solid return. I'm pleasantly surprised. - Tomahawk
Came here once I saw trade. Me too, really. What happens if 2027 is a top 10 pick? They get 2028 1st?

My best real guess would be a very brutal guerrilla war where we convince the better half of the American public to rise up against their fascist dictator.
Nobody wants this. So it’s not going to to happen.
A lot of people would die. - Arctic_AARDVARK
I don't think hand-to-hand fighting or anything so dramatic is the real danger. The real danger is this: many of the causes that Trump embodies (especially educational class divide, white male economic stagnation and cultural importance slippage etc.) are present all over the West. In your country, in Western Europe, even now in New Zealand.
But the US is the only country in the world with this high a fraction of mouth-breathers (amply represented here) that would believe that a profoundly incompetent man like Trump is positioned to address these grievances. He would not have won an election anywhere else. His closest counterpart was Berloscuni, but Berloscuni was far more competent. So is Doug Ford, Poillevre, Weidel, Le Pen, Meloni, Richard Schoof, and probably even Farage.
The US is likely heading for much tougher decades, especially the 2030s, when SS runs out and the aggrievements are not really addressed. While many people have seen living standards not improve that much, things are nowhere near as bad as say 1930s, 1970s, or anything remotely similar. If now they are willing to accept a guy like Trump, and rubbish like Fentanyl coming over the border and Haitians eating cats and dogs and tarrifs and that Canada is apparently exploiting a trade deal negotiated by the same guy who is criticizing it, what will they accept when things truly get bad?
Lets say the US pilots interfere with commercial air traffic to Canada. F-35s buzz jets. Lets say Russian trawlers cut cables and the US does nothing. Lets say ships leaving Canadian ports are harassed, so insurance rates rise prohibitively. All that is done under some make-up guise that enough people buy into.
Will it happen? Probably not. But there might be say a 10% chance it will, and if it does, annexation will be a far better future than continuation, and that will be it for your country.
People buy life insurance policies for lower risks of death than 10%. What is Canada's life insurance policy in the ensuing decades?

I assume so. I don’t think the Leafs end up top 10 over the next couple years but you never know.
Hate that we have to wait so long to see the pick but it’s far better than holding onto Laughton too long and getting a 3rd. Still, probably not gonna see whatever this pick turns into on NHL ice for 5 years at the bare minimum. |

Your not lying….Ive never seen quite this much disdain for the US….for a lot of people they don’t differentiate between the Felon and the country. I think he really has a personal issue with Trudeau who apparently called him a lying fraud on the phone yesturday…lol…hopefully Trudeau is gone by Tuesday. - landros 2
The felon become the 3rd Republican to win the popular vote in the 9 elections, and the first in 20 years.
He has a 90% approval rating amongst R's. Add in say inflation and that tips him over with Indies who are willing to tolerate such things such as Canada, Ukraine etc. in the hope he will make things economically easier.
Trump is not a high-res photo of the US. But don't ever think he is not at least a blurry reflection. People knew what they were getting.

Trump, Musk etc are robber barons.
This isn’t complicated. They’re cutting public funding to pay for the massive tax cuts to billionaires. - Arctic_AARDVARK
Trump is a moron and a psychopath. He is not capable of being a robber baron.
Musk is an entrepreneurial genius. He has piled on 1000%, and I would too in his positon. Who else would allow him to fire staff that monitors his companies? Get a road map of the government and mold it to make his own industries regulation proof for the next 20 years? He will make a few trillion $ over that span. |

Most of the tariff talk is leverage to get everyone to lower theirs. This is all negotiation tactics that’ll work itself out, probably with another trade agreement. I’m not that worried. - Sublime55
Given that Canada eliminated the last tarriffs on US products in oh, 1998, that is certainly an interesting take, and very representative of the point I made of the US voting population.
Why is Risto still here???
Bemused aside: I signed up for a sth last time I popped in, over a week ago. STILL hasn't been processed. Wtf?

I was just thinking that it is not outside the realm of possibility that they go the Sharks route, just keep trying, with roughly the same set of stars, never cross the hurdle then just collapse/do another rebuild. If 2027/28 is around then.... |

That would be something wouldn’t it. And it’s the Leafs we’re talking about here. The one franchise that finds new ways to embarrass itself as much as the Flyers do.
Could you imagine the 2028 pick kicks in, they suck, and it’s a lotto pick they lose out on all over a 30 year old Scott Laughton. If it was anyone other than the Leafs I’d say impossible. 😂 |

So who is York and Tippett getting traded for in the summer? If runors were true, Briere was trying to trade Poehling to NJ for a 2nd rd pick, the center depth chart would have been the following:
-Cates (assumed he gets re signed)
-Couts
-?????
-????
Even if Luchenko gets inserted, still would have been an open slot. |

Not sure what DB will do but he is set up decent going into the offseason, 7 of the first 51 picks, still has some players he could move. It would be nice if they lose enough to pick 6th. It would be nice is players like Zam and Ryan P played well, to max their value. Either way, DB said it’s about who is available and no game changer is right now. Luck out, win the lottery, package up other picks and players and make a blockbuster trade seems the only path to even think about making playoffs next year.
Odds are stay the course, next deadline move more out including RR, take it from there

Good chance if picking 6th or later, best prospect on the board is going to be Victor Eklund or Jackson Smith- not centers. I am curious how far Radim Mrtka rises up the draft board. Huge RH Dman- Silayev who is a LH Dman in the KHL went #10 to the Devils.
I doubt they make all 7 picks in this draft, that's a lot of prospects. I do hope Bump gets signed and gets to play games for the Phantoms after his college career is over.

I didn’t watch the press conference. He can say that and it sounds great but does he know he added tippet? He added konecny? Those are adds, and it wasn’t the right time to add them either |

More curious about the go forward, would have preferred moving TK, don’t have big issue with Tippett, his age fits well enough for now |

It’s hard to take any of that seriously when all you have to do is look back at the TK extension and failure to go get a blue chip center prospect in the last draft.
Same old same old with these Comcast stiffs talking out both sides of their mouth. Never want to commit to a full rebuild because they’re afraid what 2-3 rough years might bring. Cling to endless mediocrity instead. |

Someone who wishes the United States President dead is a scumbag. Has nothing to do with be ever being in Canada - Striiker
Who cares about the US president, it's not my president. Trump could die tomorrow and it wouldn't affect me good or bad.
Doesn’t mean I'm a p.os. because I couldn't care less for another country's government.
Heck I couldn't care if king Charles dies it wouldn't bother me neither.
Or even trudeau
Ppl die every day
Personally I think ppl are sick that never met Johnny hockey and are all upset about his death, lots of ppl all over the world unfortunately die from drunk drivers. Ppl just want to shine a light on themselves and make someone else's death about them.
Why is his death any more sad then another person. Ppl like to really hold up famas ppl and makes them sound more important then non famous ppl |
