Word known here at their West. Cty. practice facility had Drury engaged still in talks with Buffalo even after their big trade with Ottawa. But he was unwilling to buy high in a seller's trade deadline market; making it also hard to believe the NYR were among the reportedly other multi teams who made "compelling" offers to acquire Rantanen.

So Frank Seravalli was again accurate per his Daily Faceoff article two days ago, when of his 18 teams listed that would still be shoppers, the Rangers were not included.
That despite Soucy's acquisition yesterday from Vancouver; since that move was solely due to J.T. Miller's both; recommendation of him to Drury, plus his direct contact with Soucy in selling him on the Big Apple, whereby Soucy waived his NTC to make the trade happen. So this is likely now J.T. Miller's team to Captain in the very near future.
