Don’t tbink Soucy is the long term top pair answer. Not a fan but luckily short term deal |

Carson Soucy to the Rangers for a third round pick. - airjan23Certainly not the d-man I really wanted and definitely not for a third. Who does he play over, are you sitting Jones for him?
I can see why you preferred other d'men, since Soucy compared to the first year on his deal last season, has struggled this season, though with a team nearly as a whole that has struggled in Vancouver. But word had it there were multi teams interested in him, most of which wanted Vancouver to pick up half to most of his $3.25M AAV cap hit having one more year remaining. The Canucks eventually dropped Soucy to their 3rd pairing after they acquired Marcus Pettersson.

Soucy has played both sides on defense, another reason for now why Drury was interested in him.

I liked Soucy he was on my go get him list last year lol but generally everyone is on that list
I like the trade simply because he’s a giant. I think Drury has a good touch with finding guys like this. Who thought Urho was any good? And he hasn’t been bad

The usually most reliable Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff had an article posted yesterday, listing teams who would still be "SHOPPERS" through the deadline. I recall him listing a little more than half of them, along with their buying needs.
Surprisingly, he DID NOT have the Rangers listed as a "SHOPPER." We'll see if the NHL expert adjusts his feelings, after the Rangers became a buyer in the second of their two trades made today.
But hopefully, Seravalli will not have them among the Rantanen shoppers, for which he stated today, "the Canes have multiple "COMPELLING" offers on the table for "NONCOMMITTAL" Mikko Rantanen."
If not dealt, maybe the noncommittal Rantanen reaches free agency, & then states his demands to among one GM, Chris Drury, should he by then rid of his title of "noncommittal," & provided the cap space will still be there, and is not needed more importantly elsewhere in his lineup. |
