If not then Yzerman has lost his marbles and needs to step down. He got nothing of value really from the Hawks and nothing that improves the Wings and didn't even get a prospect or pick back for Veleno and taking on Mrazek and his contract. Smith is past his prime, can't win a faceoff to save his life, doesn't PK or bring any physicality or toughness. |

Wings needed a true 2nd line center, a good physical defensive RD to get Holl out of this lineup, some tough/physical players to be harder to play against and some players that can PK because the PK is killing them being worst in the league.
That got none of those things and just got older and softer with the loss of Fisher and Veleno. |

This trade makes zero sense to me... As if Smith (who's 35) is actually going to fill any hole on our team. Mrazek isn't any better than Lyon or Talbot. So now there's another goalie logjam which isn't needed. Cossa has to be wondering what's going on.
Really sucks that Mazur got injured again. Would have given him a great opportunity to show he's ready to take a job in Detroit. Now I'm starting to wonder about his durability. He was already out most of the season in GR... but he was really starting to put up numbers when he came back. Lombardi and Danielson are our only hope offensively for the future...

Yzerman needs to be chief scout his drafting is very good. But his management of player personnel is horrible. Most of moves he makes do not make any sense. Also this team is heartless. Those 2 loses to Columbus are inexcusable as Larkin looked like he was playing for Columbus to win and should have been benched for the stadium series game. |
